Took 5 minutes to load this thread to mention how slow it is.

I've experienced a fair bit of slowness and pages not loading, posts not going through etc this afternoon.

Really bad for me today.

Weirdly, every time I load up the front page, cricketweb.net (including articles off the front page), it's loading up fairly quickly.

I'm only having the problem when accessing the forum. It was pretty bad last night too, to the extent that I couldn't post.

The load has been just fine except for the past 90 minutes which is expected due to nightly tasks that run so it could well be at your end.

If you're expecting it to be really fast every minute of every day, you're expecting too much.

Nah, I mean I couldn't access the site for two hours yesterday. And then when I could, I couldn't post - it just kept hanging when I tried to submit.

Today, I experienced quite a few five to ten minute intervals where I couldn't load the site at all , and in fact, over the last 90 minutes it's been pretty good, which is why I've never thought this problem has had much to do with server load. Dunno if anyone's finding anything similar, it could just be me, but loading every other site I visit hasn't presented any issues whatsoever for me.

Sorry if the complaining is getting annoying, I guess I'll stop posting about it. But it's not due to unreasonable expectations of high speed. I'm used to this site being the slowest of those I visit.

During the last test i couldn't get on for about 3 days.
So far this week it's generally been bearable, but it's been worse than it used to be.

Yeah I couldn't get on for 3 days either during the last Test.

And you're not the only one SL it's been poor for me the last few days too, not being slow but completely broken and timing out after a minute of trying to connect to the CW server. Fine during the time when the updates were running too.

I'll do the tracert thing next time it happens to me.

BTW I'm not having a go, I realise you (James) put in a lot of work at your own expense to keep this site up and running, and I appreciate that, as I really enjoy reading and posting here.

I'm just reporting difficulties I'm having is all. If they can't be resolved, I'll live.

Same here, but it's because of the time and effort James and others have put in that I commented (not sounding like I'm whinging I hope ).

It's not fair on them as they've put loads of time into CW and something is letting them down out of their control, by the looks of things, which may stop prospective users from increasing the site's population.

I've logged a support call with our hosts guys. I'll see what they have to say, but keep on reporting problems, otherwise I'll just assume that everything is fine.

Nothing's changed network-wise, since you're behind the same connectivity as before. The server is faster, so it shouldn't be that part either. There is a lot of networking between you and the server, so chances are the problem lies there. I need some traceroute data from when the server is not working or is slow, and from when it's working normally. I can compare that way.

Ok guys, here are some instructions on how to run a trace-route:

1) Click "Start" / "Run"
2) Type "cmd" and click "OK"
3) Type "tracert cricketweb.net" and wait for it to run though
4) Click the "C:\" icon up the top left, go to Edit, Select All, and then Copy.
5) Once you've done that, paste into a forum post.

As Tim suggested take one and post it when it's fine, and take one when it isn't so he can compare.

Of course, the problem for me is that reaching cricketweb.net isn't generally a problem - it's accessing the forums where the dropouts and slowdowns occur.
