Sir Garry v Sachin

I understand that many non-Indians are tired of the Sachin-mania most Indians have, but it shouldn't take away the fact that he was probably the best batsman after Bradman.
Debatable. Certainly played for a long time but not sure that makes him the clear second best after Bradman. Certainly in the mix though

I'd put him above Bradman. In that era he only played against England, semi professional players too and lack of technology to analyse players. I think Bradman now would have averaged much lower. Even now we see players who average loads against one country, is it that much of a big deal?

Tendulkar is the best in the modern era because he dominated both tests and odis. No other such player exists, best players excel in all formats, situations, pitches, bowlers. Kohli could one day have a similar record to Tendu but I still the master is above. He played really good bowlers with a poorer team on tougher pitches.

Average in SL:

Tendulkar: 68
Bradman: 10
He skipped a game too, citing injury. I reckon he felt he had been figured out in unfamiliar conditions. Jack Iverson did the same when his mystery spin was being unravelled in the 50's. These guys were not used to facing real scrutiny that professionals like the God of cricket had to.

This is an interesting discussion point and certainly unique. I don't think we've discussed this on cricketweb before.

Hmm...Is Sachin better than Bradman? Let's think.

Sachin averaged about 50 when the elite players of his era averaged about 50.

The Don averaged 100 when the elite players of his era averaged about 50.

Hmm....
