Don’t think there’s a debate between Bumrah and Shoaib anymore. Bumrah has almost as any wickets without a hole in his resume at a much lower average.

the questions are whether Bumrah is already ahead of Dev, and what he needs to get ahead of Waqar.

Waqar > Bumrah > Kapil imo as bowlers. Until recently, I would have had Kapil ahead of Bumrah.

Bumrah needs to do a lot more to get ahead of Waqar though. If he can continue at his current level, another 100 wickets would give him Holding's aggregate. That would make him comparable to Waqar.

At 250 wickets and if his performances do not deteriorate significantly, he would have a good case to be ranked above Waqar.

Like Holding also averages over 23, while Bumrah is still pushing it in low 20s; if he can get to 300 Test wickets at a similar average, he would have a very good case to be a top 10 pacer of All Time.

I would find it shocking if Bumrah gets to 300 wickets averaging sub 21 but if he does or is even close he would be an inner circle elite pacer

He already is on talent, just a question of longevity now. And ahead of Cummins and Rabada as the best of the generation IMO.

lol wat

Kohli isnt better at playing pace than someone who grew up handling swing conditions since he was in his teens and is his equal in test cricket

if that makes me a hater so be it
Kohli has 6 tons in Aus and is the best batsmen ever in SA. You’re massively underrating him against pace.

I don’t rate Kohli as highly as KW or Root against spin though

its not that hard to do it if he wants to with how dominant India are at home and how pace friendly pitches most pitches are outside Asia

he is far too important for the other formats though so he will always be missing on the easy pickings tour, just for eg he has only 2 series against non sena teams and he averages in single digits in both of them

5 of those 6 tons were on some absolute roads, context is key. he has been brilliant in South Africa which i give him props for

on the contrary i rate him above those 2 against spin when considering overall career considering he has played plenty of tests on some wild pitches. his decline against spin has massively affected the perception of how good he was once vs the same

Those 4 tons in 2014 were still against prime Johnson, and 2 tons in Adelaide had a track which assisted Lyon(although not a minefield). And 4 tons in an overseas series is an absurd amount of runs regardless. And the Perth 100 in 2018, was a near ATG achievement. Root has failed on all tours in Aus, and not scored one 100.
