What I meant though was the fear of him in tests came well before that off spin incident (as sad as that was). The way he bowled in the SCG Test vs. Aus almost convinced me that he was gone.

In ODIs, he never really fell away, but even in recent performances are so staggering that its made me stand up and take notice.

Well I first feared for him in Tests in about 2001 or 2002, so it's certainly not new.

But that off-spin incident really just made you sit-up as if you'd received a slap in the face. And even then the thought went through my head... "A SAfrican Test attack without Shaun Pollock?" I still found it utterly inconceivable, even though he'd been struggling for penetration on flat pitches for many years.

I mean, hell, me I'd still love to see Lance Klusener recalled!
