Shane Watson, is he unlucky or what?

To be fair, England went through a faze like that. Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough for us to shake of the reputation.
Haha, that "faze" has been perminant for most of the last 10 years... Douglas Brown, Matthew Fleming, Jeremy Snape, Vince Wells, Ian Blackwell, Gareth Batty, Rikki Clarke, Anthony McGrath, Liam Plunkett, Tim Bresnan, James Dalrymple, Alex Loudon (a batsman picked for his bowling), ... the list goes on forever.

Australia are all but assured of a semi spot now anyway, so they should rest him, even if he's passed fit for England. Their next match after England is another 6 or 7 days away so he would get the extra time to fully recover.
They can get away with being a bowler down for 1 game, but to be a bowler down for 2 or more would be a big risk imo. It's a shame - he's been playing some good cricket lately.

Now if Watto doesn't play Hodgey might come into the team for him, Hodgey would bat well but then who would fill in as the 5th bowler.

Symo is nowhere near his best bowling rhythm so to expect him to bowl 7 or 8 overs and Hodgey to bowl 2 or 3 over with some chip in overs from Clarke would be very risky IMO.

So would it be a better option to play Johnson or Clark instead of Hodgey.

Would say Hodge, Clarke and Symonds would share 5th bowler responsibilities.

If that happens Aussies would be in big trouble, because both Tait and Hogg are certainly not the most economical bowlers going around and if the trio of Symo, Clarke and Hodge also are targeted by other teams Aussies would find stopping runs really hard.

Cam White might become a neccessary evil I would think.
Hopes is on standby. Fair enough I suppose - White is a worse bowler than some of the players in the side that aren't bowling. His batting in one day cricket is good enough to get a position at 6 or 7 IMO, but not at the expense of Hodge, so he's not in the frame.

Fairly pleased with the Hopes call actually. As much as I don't rate him, he did return remarkable stats last season for Queensland and probably deserves another go in ODIs.

There's not much point in recalling White, because Hodge would be a better choice for the same role. Hopes is more of a like-for-like replacement for Watson.

Would McDonald have been a better choice compared to Hopes, anyways i just hope Watto gets fit in time for next game so that the Aussies don't have to ruin their team balance.

Hopes is infinitely better than McDonald at one day cricket. FC stuff might be a bit different but McDonald's batting in one day games is too one-dimensional and his bowling is a bit the same really.
