TrueThat’s because he played 24 matches
He played 114 Tests and was a keeper in 24 Tests.
That’s why he is not spoken in the same breath as Andy Flower or Adam Gilchrist
TrueThat’s because he played 24 matches
This would also be the case for Flower if he had a specialist WK in his team. That’s because he played 24 matches
But he didn't, so he kept. And like, you can say had Healy been 7 years younger, Gilchrist could had played a good chunk as a specialist bat. This would also be the case for Flower if he had a specialist WK in his team.
But he didn’t play just 24 matches did he?This would also be the case for Flower if he had a specialist WK in his team.
Not arguing for AB>Flower. Just saying that he gets overlooked in the discussion of wicket keeper bats. But he didn’t play just 24 matches did he?
I mean, there are byes and dismissals per innings/match but there are too many factors in play there imo. How wayward/consistent the bowlers are, how good the bowlers were at providing chances etc. And then I don’t believe we have proper stats for dropped catches/missed stumpings etc. Though I think Charles Davis has worked on this in recent times, there’s not much at all to go on historically. Are there any wicker keeper stats?
I saw Flower keep and AFAIK he wasn’t bad. But the issue is I haven’t seen him much.
I have seen some of those Davis works and they still had way too many factors. Keepers from SC did quite worse than SENA.I mean, there are byes and dismissals per innings/match but there are too many factors in play there imo. Even if he is less hyped for various reasons, Andy Flower is a better batsman than Adam GilchristAndy Flower is not spoken of in the same breath as Adam Gilchrist.

Well Flower was easily the worst keeper of this lot so… the phrase wicket keeper batsman does have wicket keeper in the prominent first position
Is he spoken of in the same breadth?Andy Flower is not spoken of in the same breath as Adam Gilchrist.
That's not the measure of a wicketkeeper batsman though.Even if he is less hyped for various reasons, Andy Flower is a better batsman than Adam Gilchrist
Have you ever heard him mentioned in the conversation?I don’t agree
