Interesting how Shakib's in contention for the ODI ATG XI but Botham is nowhere close

Shows where they stand tbh
That's only for the last 25 years tho. Botham comes up for the all-rounder discussion in an ATXI but is usually beaten by Sobers, Khan, and Miller for the spot

What is Khan doing contending for batsman (if MIller can be called that) who bowls a a few over withthe new ball (also in Millers case) or takes forever to take a wicket (in Sober's case); if Khan wasn't the best guy to take a new ball or know which end to bat with, then PakPassion needs this debate now.

The only thing I learnt from Miller was to only bowl when the ball was new, pre-reverse swing era.

You'd have him bat at 8 as a frontline reverse swing specialist bowler if you're sensible but he is considered when talking of great all-rounders. Cricinfo's second XI has him at #6, BTW.

Automatic #8 in my first team.

Hadlee #9

I like Marshall at 10 with Murali and Warne in a duel.

And Tamil's fight guerilla style.

Not getting suckered into another ATXI batting order argument but sensible choices, Hadlee bats #8 in my 2nd XI.

Marshal. Gee I'd think you'd pay more attention considering how much time you spend proving yours is better!

I wouldn't mind it if Australia adopted a nice pie-floater green for their next ODI shirt. You could add a touch of beige to signify the pie itself, and maybe even red piping along the sides to resemble the tomato sauce.

It's getting a bit unfair on Shakib at this stage to keep getting compared to Botham every time this thread pops up. It must be demoralising given how clearly inferior he is. We should change it to Shakib v Mark Ealham, or Shakib v Dmitri Mascarenhas to make it more fair.

Blame the food over at the Caribbean personally.

Must be so good he can't wait to get back in and have doubles. As compared to the fare served in New Zealand, rather stay out there against Boult Southee and Wagner and score a 200 than have to go back in and see what's being served for tea.

No doubt he'd go very well in England and Australia too. Just can't have him out there batting in places that have good food. We all know what a foodie he is.

Meanwhile Botham's greatest career moment came when his opposition bet on themselves to lose. Can't really take that seriously can we.
