36-43 degrees haha I always thought it was a filthy action, but wow

What's the record? That Australian bloke Gannon was close to 30 but can't remember anything this bad.

I always thought he had some illusion thing going on like all those other dodgy spinners - but no, it really was that bad

Pretty damning! The action in the match seems much worse than the one in the test. If 43 was measured during the test, wonder what it was during the match.

Wow, so he was chucking in the lab despite clearly trying to clean up his action? That is pretty shocking actually.

That would seem to be a severe indictment on Senanayake's action. However, a report on the testing procedure from spin bowling coach Piyal Wijetunge, who had accompanied Senanayake to the test, said Senanayake had been put under immense pressure from the co-ordinators of the test. There have also been suggestions that Senanayake was effectively asked to flex his elbow more than he ordinarily would, in order to adhere to the experts' view of what his action looked like in the match he was reported.
You kinda wonder where this comes from having seen that other link

Sounds like more conspiracy theory bollocks to me. The pictures are pretty clear, if I was coordinating the test I'd ask him why he was bowling differently as well.

Cost, I imagine. It doesn't sound like a cheap solution.
Testing all the bowlers in the labs annually is much less costly than testing them real time. But no one wants to entertain that line of thought if it is the cost which is the factor. Deep down every one r knows that elbows do snap when bowlers are tired and it exceeds 15. And effort balls are associated with the snap more. Simply prirists are **** scared to test everyone because it can confirm only one thing. How the action loojs to the naked eye has no connection with the elbow extension.

Comparing Murali with the likes of Jim Laker is preposterous," said Bedi. "The ICC's experiments with leniency in elbow angles and subjecting Murali to bowling with a cast on his arm was a sham. A chucker can be spotted easily without technology as he has minimal follow-through. This is because the elbow, rather than the shoulder, comes into play. The shoulder doesn't follow the ball, hence no follow-through.
Bedi was ****ing wrong IMO. Bedi himself didn't have a good follow through in his later career. But Murali had one of the best follow throughs for a spinner. That's whu Bedi had many injuries and became an unfit potato by 35 and Murali went up to 40, bowling beautifully.

Obviously yes. He's extending up to 43, provided the methodology of the test was as same as thatw as used by Dr. elliott in WA.

Yeah but testing them in real time is less flawed. Both cost and efficiency are taken into account I'm sure.
When the selection for test is done through judgement of the naked eye makes the proces hugely flawed. Accuracy and reproducibility should also be a part of it.

Even tests on random bowlers will do if ICC is pressed so much for money. Even a co hort would do!

Hopefully Senanayake will not play in the 2015 WC despite all the bravado from SLC. Cannot see how he can suddenly go from 43+ to < 15 in less than a year.

You're probably right ,But if the test showing he chucks is good enough to (rightly) condemn him then IF ( and that's a big if!!) that same process shows he rectifies his action to fall within the ICC limits, how can that not be good enough to allow him to play. - don't forget he is only banned from bowling and NOT playing,
I am not disputing the tests in ANY way but I am amazed that I thought his action was close but ok if it's 43 degrees- new glasses for me!!

Yes, there should be a negative control in place.

He might pass the test as you mention but considering he is so much beyond the limit who is to say he will not fall back in to the old habits when under pressure in say the WC finals. I feel sorry for the poor guy but I wouldn't like it if India played Sri Lanka in an important match in the WC and he is bowling.
