Semi Finals and Finals

Well this wasn't a good tournament for the Aussies, everything that had to go wrong went wrong with them in this tournament and i guess the 5 month lay off is to be blamed for that, a 5 month break is just too long a period to stay away from the game in international cricket and obviously all the Australian cricketers looked out of nick both cricket-wise and physical fitness-wise.
Our middle order seriously looks scratchy..ive actually worried about it for a while...i wonder who will play at #7 for the 7 match ODI series against India... Haddin isnt a fav of mine atm  but he is a good batsman....i suppose
im thinking more like a hopes maybe

but then again you arent expected to smash every ball in ODI's

our bowlers (4 quicks) have been superb though.. they didnt look like they had a break.. 5th bowler was a bitch though

Though it doesn't really matter now but it would have been really better if Australians could have picked this squad for World T20 :-
1.A.Gilchrist
2.M.Hayden
3.R.Ponting
4.A.Symonds
5.B.Hodge
6.D.Hussey
7.C.White
8.B.Lee
9.M.Johnson
10.S.Clark
11.N.Bracken
12.B.Hilfenhaus
13.M.Clarke
14.B.Hogg
15.M.Hussey
Now Australians have been saying for a long time that if you are good player then you are good player and the format of the game hardly matters, now i don't agree with that T20 can confuse the best of the batsmen regarding at what rate he should pace his innings, though the likes of Clarke and Mike Hussey are fantastic Odi players, i don't think T20 suits their style of play they like to push their innings with one's and two's and quick running between the wickets and on top of that they didn't had much experience of T20 cricket either, so i would have been tempted to draft in players like White, Hodge and David Hussey who have the experience of playing T20 cricket in UK.
Not selecting White and Hussey was absolutely stupid they are easily two of the best strikers of the cricket ball in Australia.

I would pick Hopes without any hesitation for the Indian tour he has really done well Pakistan, he should bat at 7 then and he would help in solving the 5th bowler issue to some extent, really the way Roy is bowling post his bicep tear is very frustrating, he was a really handy bowler but now he looks like a hit me bowler.
As far as Haddin is concerned i wouldn't even let him near the playing XI after what he did yesterday, i think its one of those occasions where a player does something really stupid and loses serious credentials in your eyes.

i certainly agree

damn we missed White's big hitting in the middle order.... that team we played against England at the SCG was a relaly good T20 one i recn
David hussey a gun as well

yea hopes was good in pak

but is he a #7 batsman? and are his medium pacers just as good as roys?

i rate him higher than Watto though.. and it looked like he had an amazing domestic season in one dayers last season... leading wicket taker... i think he's been bowling at 140k as well.. he must've improved

pakistan can't understimate india..they have to play hard to win the final.. they already tied a won game with them soo they have to fire up inorder to beat india.. espcially the top order... imran and afridi should open the innings
Don't worry, Pakistan's not going to underestimate India, and that's why I think nothing's gonna stop them from winning. They should play the same team, with Nazir and Hafeez opening, and then Malik 1 down and Afridi at 4, no later than that because so far Pakistan haven't been able to utilize him properly because he's been coming so late down the order.

After long long time (Since 2003 WC India-Pak Match) Watched the match with bunch of buddies and what a game it was. SreeSanth and Yuvraj were amazing. Bhajji bowled well.

Great cricket, didn't know 20/20 could be so interesting, but it sure was and now suddenly Scaly's post on Twenty20 make a lot of sense. :)

Younis needs to bat at #3 IMO, he's the rock of the Pakistan order. Malik, Afridi, Alam, Akmal to follow I reckon.

Can't believe they got $1million USD and a Porche for a player for winning a T20 semi-final. Dravid better have gotten a personal jet for winning in England, that's all I have to say.

Looks like you don't keep up with the news

They beat Aus in a Semi and Got 1 Million

Pak got $10,000 USD for beating them in a group match

"Musharraf had also lost his cool after Pakistan's dismal show in the last world cup in March when the team was eliminated in the first round of the competition in the West Indies.

There was more good news for the Pakistani players after their win over Australia when the board also announced a cash prize of USD 10,000 for each of the players."

Hopes opens for Bulls but certainly won't be doing that in odi series in India (thats if he is selected), but Hopes bowling at 140K, now that news for me i considered him to be in the Ian Harvey mould as a batsman and bowler, but looking at his stats from the last season he certainly seems to have improved a lot.
I guess then Hopes = late bloomer!!

Pakistan's best batsmen have been Malik and Misbah Ul Haq in this tournament, and you always want your best players to face maximum number of overs, especially in a T20. Younis Khan takes a over or two to get going( he scored I think 2 runs of 10 balls against NZ), but if he has to come down the order with few overs to go and Pak are in a good position, he can just start playing his shots right away. I guess the team management will decide what's best, but if they've lost only 1 or 2 wickets in first 10 overs, then there's no way Afridi, Malik, Misbah shouldn't be batting ahead of Younis Khan.

Indian teams WC83 and T20 WC 2007

are both primarily composed around a couple of unquestionable young talents (then Kapil, now Yuvi) but mostly a collection of non-superstars who have no reputations to lose and can play out of their skins as a team (then Amarnath, Binny, Madan Lal now almost everyone) .

Except Dhoni and Yuvraj - none of the others could take their spots for granted in the regular team. (and not even Yuvi in tests). All the other internationals are either trying to make a comeback (Sehwag, Harbhajan, Pathan) or seem on the fringe (RP, Uthappa, Sreesanth, Gambhir) or worse (Rohit, Joginder).

Ganguly and Zaheer now both in their second acts, are also examples of non-superstardom. Amazing what a bit of hunger can do. Perhaps giving Yuvi the Porsche was exactly the wrong thing to do.

Australia is touring India soon...i won't be surprised if they whitewash India in the series. Not saying to make my Indian mates mad over here, but if you look at the facts...Aussies come really hard on you if you give them a run for their money....and India surely did today.

Anyways looking ahead for the final game bw Pakistan & India. It's gonna be one hek of a cracker.

@ alternative, Mate now seriously you don't think India and Pakistan's success in T20 would suddenly make them better odi and test teams, i mean haven't India lost an odi series just recently (and that to against England of all the teams)!
Even if Australia were under-cooked for this tournament, if this would have been an Odi tournament they would have still walked away with the series, its just that T20 brings all the teams to a plain-level-field so anybody can beat anyone, but that would change too as teams play more and more of T20 cricket and the better teams would move ahead of the weaker sides when they gain more experience of this format of the game.
This is pretty much exactly what I've been arguing and I've been shouted down for it.

If Indian fans have improved as much as they think they have it will indeed be a whitewash. In their favour.

Pardon my ignorance, its been 5 years since I have been to India. Can you really buy a Porsche from a dealer w/o any issues about customs and duties
Shreyans Motors Mumbai are official dealers for Porsche. They offer Boxters, the Cayman, 911 Carrera and the Cayenne. They import the cars deal with the import regulations and pay cutom duties and other taxes and you can buy from them.

It does not help as far as the price is concerned but the hassle of import formalities isnt there. :)

Imported cars in India are very very expensive.
