Semi-Final #2- New Zealand v South Africa- Wednesday, March 5th- Lahore

Cricketer Of The Year
Well done NZ. Santner is amazing and the way they adapt to almost every condition and situation is just next level.

RSA decided that sucking, instead of choking, in a KO game would be a nice change of pace. :(
Yeah, at least they didn't choke (is that a positive?). They were not really ahead at any point in the game. Just been a fairly predictable drawn out defeat.

Hindsight is 20/20 etc etc but Linde needed to be in this team. Especially when they don’t trust Shamsi to even play him.

Competitive but never ahead. Chase really fell off the rails completely after van Der Dussen got out

One of my irrational pet peeves in cricket is in a hopeless chase, when it's mathematically still achievable, and batsmen knock it around and look every inch like they're playing for red ink

No Stubbs did not make much sense. He is a good player of spin and had a good 2024 across all formats.

Congrats New Zealand. Our bowlers let us down.
Maybe our group was to easy, the game against the Dodgers was a false dawn.

At one point in his innings, Williamson had 40 off 56, the difference is he didn't get out and accelerated.

Ravindra and Williamson turned their starts into tons, Bavuma and VDD did not.
And that's what separates good players from the really great players. Kane's conversion rate is pretty good. He's earned the right to play that way because he's carried NZ's batting for a decade. Same with Kohli.

And since people are so fixated about averages, Head averages in the early 40s, way below Babar but he's easily the most impactful player in world cricket right now. Guys like Head, Rohit etc set the tone in the powerplay which enables the middle order to take their time and eventually post big totals.

In this particular game, when chasing 360, you expect the openers to give better start to set up a platform for the middle order to accelerate.

Congrats to New Zealand on winning the Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025! Hope there's a good trophy.

A good fifty from Miller, we might have been in trouble if the rest of the SA middle order didn't fold like a cheap suit.

Yorkers are like reading and writing in primary schools, for some reason they're seen as a relic from a bygone era when they're more relevant than ever
