Second Round Group E - South Africa, India, New Zealand, England

International 12th Man
Only 2 pacers would be iffy at Durban

Isnt it supposed to be favorable for pacer?

SS has his moments of uncertanity, but India needs 3 seamers. Especially since there is no Ganguly.

There may even be a case to play RP, Irfan, Sree and replace Joginder with AA but let AA bowl only a couple of overs early on and let Sehwag fill the rest of quota.

Rohit Sharma may be another one to be replaced and can consifer Yusuf Pathan, though this match is not the best time to debut internationally. In that case we have a spare bowler if AA's wheels (or Sreesanth's for that matter) come unstuck.

I think it could be: Sehwag,Gambhir, Uthappa, Yuvi, Dhoni,Yusuf,Irfan,Harbhajan,AA,Sree,RP tomorrow.

is yousaf a better batsman than irfan... ????
Yousuf has
  • a first class average of 31.8 witha strike rate of 72.9 (21 matches) with six fifties and
  • a List A average of 30.5 at a strike rate of 112.3 with a hundred and another four scores above 50 (38 matches)
Pretty good I would say. One hasnt seen him playing so difficult to say if he is better than Irfan as a batsman.

He also has also seems to be a good fielder at least from the number of cathes taken in a short career.

  • First Class : 21 in 21 matches
  • List A : 24 in 38
  • Twenty 20 : 4 in 4

He is an off spinner

Yousuf Pathan

Whatever it takes!!!
Isn't it a weird equation though, you can win the game and your run rate can still go down?
not really... If India bat first and win, it means that whatever RSA did score will be lesser than India's, regardless of they get bowled out or not.. So India will have a positive run rate, I think... And of course, if India chase, again, if they win, they should have a better or at least equal run rate as RSA, so shouldn't be a problem as long as we win...

But us beating RSA in T20 in their home turf..... That's a problem, a BIG problem..

The more times you see that Broad over the more you realise what a horrible over it really was. Stuart missed his length not once or twice in that over but six times and never once tried a slower ball or any other form of variation.
Take nothing away for UV though, it's a remarkable achievement and aside from one blow, it was clean hitting.

Aye. That was what I was saying last night. Four balls were long half volleys at 130 km/h I think. Finger-looking good if you're a pissed off batsman :)

Yuvraj ruled out of elbow injury for the crucial match against south africa.Dinesh karthik replaces him.Things not looking good for india.

India wins the toss and bat. Joginder sharma and rohit sharma still in the team. get .. set.. go..

Not one of India's top 5 is an established player in the current ODI outfit; not surprising that they haven't been able to fire against South Africa's excellent pace attack. Difficult to see India winning this one. South Africa will probably score half the required runs in Joginder Sharma's four overs.
