Saqlain Mushtaq: what went wrong?

Some say his doosra became predictable and that's why they ignored him
He overdid the doosra a bit but was still quality enough on the basics of offspin (flight, control, drift) to be a threat.

But he had a knee injury and the PCB didn't give him support as he was in England on his own. He could have played another five more years with better management.

I think with a full test career he could have ended up ahead of Kumble and frankly been the best spinner of SC after Murali. He was a different type of bowler.

Seen some writings reckon he became reliant on the doosra and his ability to get batsmen out with the off break lessened.

In the mid 90s he was brilliant. I take the point about becoming over-reliant on the doosra though. What I always found ridiculous was that he tended to bowl death overs in limited overs and be utterly brilliant. He would have earnt a fortune in franchise cricket today, no doubt.

I beat Elahi's bat just once, but that was like a wicket to me.

It was while this game was on - I had to leave the match halfway through to go to the indoor nets, but I wasn't complaining at all. A 16 year old getting to have a crack at those chaps? Sweet.
This was a great story.

How tf did Waqar get MOTM there though. It should've been Wasim.
