Do you watch a lot of American films and tv shows? They probably skew in favour of the American basketball player.

In the interests of Science I'll ask my 8 year old if he knows about Michael Jordan/Ali/Tyson (he definitely knows Pele and Maradona).

Thinking about it, I dunno if he knows Sachin, so I'll have to check that too. (He knows Chris Woakes and Joe Root, obviously.)

What'd I say about America controlling the narrative?
It’s true

Hollywood plays an important role in shaping our opinions. Many people have a negative opinion about Russia or Eastern Europe because they have always been portrayed as the bad guys. Maybe that was one of the reasons Novak Djokovic is not widely accepted like his peers.

Even in terms of absolute numbers, i doubt more people know who Sachin is over MJ. Sachin has India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and the rest cricketing nations, that's what close to what 2 billion. And not much outside of those. MJ has let's say a third of China, a third of the rest of Asia, a third of Europe, South America and all of Africa. And we haven't even touched north and central America yet.

I've been to different places around the world and I'm always surprised with how many people young and old i see wearing the mans shoes and other apparel with the jumpman logo.
