I am sorry but Tendulkar has never been anything more than a flat track bully who has finally decided to retire now after he has realized that he cannot score even on his custom made flat pitches at home (failures against England and Australia at home over the last year).

Even a Paul Collingwood who has a 206 on a green top in Australia is better than an overrated and selfish batsman like Tendulkar who never missed a chance to ton up on flat pitches and boost his average, forget about true greats like Mark Ramprakash, Saleem Elahi, Mahela Jawardene and Greg Blewett.

Just at work, 6 English cricket loving guys I just shown that post to, there response was outloud laughter. All 6 have Tendulkar as top 2 of all time if not top 1. Myself however believe it to be literally neck and neck for the number 2 position after Bradman

That knock came on an extremely flat pitch against quite a second string bowling attack as well. That Perth hundred in his first tour easily his best knock in Australia

Century at Melbourne 99 remains his best there imo. Attack was deadly, no one apart from him could do a thing, pressure of captaincy of a terrible side overseas.... Wonderful knock which is rarely mentioned.
The Perth hundred was special because of his age but the Oz attack was nothing compared to the one in 99. McGrath was deadly as usual , Lee was on fire back then, Fleming was a capable support bowler, plus Warne. Objectively, it was a better knock imo

My praise of Tendulkar is on the basis that he was essentially 2 batsmen. The spin-specialist at home – who worked the ball over and around and murdered Shane Warne. And secondly, the most amazing purveyor of punchy, and uncannily accurate, backfoot drives against the quicks away from home.

He almost had no right to master these 2, almost diametrically opposed, arts the way he did. It’s this adaptability and production that for me, gives him the ever so slight edge on (you know, the Port of Spain lad). At his best, his anticipation was so good, it looked like the world’s best bowlers were bowling specifically to his bat so he could look good. He was just too sharp, too compact, and too productive to bowl at. In the late 90s he just transcended. And even from 04-05 onwards, with his significantly scaled-back game, he was still one of the best in the world in all formats.

And add to this, the way he played an almost wholly onside 241 against Australia at the SCG whilst he took a time-out on his offside game to recalibrate it. I mean, he treated a test match away to the world’s best team like a personal experiment, and scored a double century.

Kudos that man!

Yeah probably that one but I've never quite got why so many people rate the Sydney double so highly, even Tendulkar himself. It was dull, boring, one-paced and overall just a meaningless knock. He's made so many brilliant hundreds it ****es me off to no end when someone is asked what his best innings was, and they say "Oh the Sydney double he didn't hit a single cover drive" Gagf you stupid **** it was a terrible innings.

It wasn't a treat on the eyes. But it was a genuine exercise of mental strength.

And for that it does derserve remembering

Outside Melbourne stadium after Couple years ago Ashes Test match. What he loved most seemed to be against Australia, the world's best team for most of Tendulkar's career lol!, he averaged 45 in ODIs and 55 in Tests. (adjusted to current averages)

A magnificent player of both exceptional talent and quite extraordinary durability and one I've had the pleasure of watching for the entirety of his career. More than that though he is an absolute ornament to the game with regard to the way he carried himself and the inspiration he provided to his country. He deserves to go out on his own terms and that final Test in Mumbai will be something special.

Also, given Tendulkar's gradual retirement from the other forms of the game it's nice that his final bow will come in Test cricket and not in some **** T20 league.I'm assuming of course that he doesn't then go back to Mumbai to play out the Ranji season.

I've met Flintoff as well and spoken to him for couple minutes when he was doing Charity work outside Old Trafford before india v england t20. I've got picture proof so you can get all excited over it if you would like to see ?

When Virtat Kohli was 12th man in Indias disaster tour of England a few years ago in the Edgbaston Test, I met him walking past with Abhinav Mukund, and have pictures of that too. I would send the pics to you but can tell you are the type who would get all over excited

If I Have, I apologise. Shane Warne made me chuckle; saying Tendulkar was the best, then daylight, then Lara 3rd lol !
Australias best batsman Bradman and best spinner Warne both absolutely love him and rated him as the best (after Bradman lol)...Then again, he did score more 100s against a unbelievable formidable Australian attack over the years than any other team.

Definitely would've called time much earlier. Moreover, he may have performed better afterwards with no added 100th ton pressure on him.

Good that he's finally decided he's had enough, although should've retired around the time laxman did and therefore I reckon he will have played 10 tests too many in hope of finishing on a high.

Nah, that's a myth IMO. He wasn't great in Enland and Australia, but he was better then than he was playing both those nations at home, after the 100th ton.
