Really seems like Foakes was dropped because the other guys are better at white-ball cricket. Not only is he a better keeper but he seemed, from what little I saw of him, to be a better red-ball batsman than Bairstow or Buttler too. Strange selection in hindsight.

He deserves more than two Tests in the openers spot, not suggesting he should be picked indefinitely!!! “Not be in doubt’ doesn’t mean he’s an automatic spot for the next five series regardless of performances, thought that may have been obvious.

I think Leach was sent out as a sacrificial lamb because there was only one over left and if he’d got out play would have ended without another batsman coming in. Any more than one over and you have to use the proper openers.
