Somerset victory

Somerset v Western Province

Somerset batted first and were on the ball with Trescothick and Blewett put on a 48 run partnership. Blewett making a slow and patient 58 of 160 balls. Strong Sri Lankan batsman Kulatunga made a fantastic 146, the WP bowlers struggled as Adams and Afridi made a quickfire 68 and 46 respectively.

A competitive total of 498 in the 1st innings.

WP batted and Caddick ripped the heart out of the WP batting with Gibbs, Kallis and Kirsten all going cheaply, Smith made a fantastic and brave 193 not out, but he ran out of partners, the best bowlers were A Caddick (3/53) and Shahid Afridi (4/71) who took 3 and 4 wickets respectively.

WP All Out: 312

Following on WP once again were bombarded with top notch bowling by Afridi, Caddick and Johnson. With Kallis top scoring with 71, Johnson took 5/53 and WP made 236 all out.

WP All Out: 236

Somerset than coasted to victory making the required 52/0

Somerset winning by 10 wickets.

A Pleasing win for the new manager.

Worcs versus Victoria
Worcestershire won the toss and elected to bat first on a good deck. Dighton made a quick fire 27 before Lewis picked him up with a good delivery. Worcs were making solid progress at 6-165, a good partnership between Davies and Alexander tookn the score to 7/238. Some great lower order batting saw Worcestershire make 506 AO. Top scorers were Razzaq 112 batting at 9, Kremeskothen 75* batting at 10, as well as Chris Davies (106) making his first century for Worcestershire. Mick Lewis with 6/167 was the best of the bowlers.
Victoria were dismissed for 382 in the first innings meaning they had to follow on, Brad Hodge with 97* was unlucky to miss out on a century. Boje the best of the bowlers with 4/78 from 25 overs.
A great team effort in the 2nd innings from Worcs saw the Vics all out for just 212, Boje again the hero taking another 4 wickets, to give him a match tally of 8 of the turning deck. Former Worcs players Leatehrdale (52*) was the 1 of only 2 Victoria batsman to get a score. Harvey also scoring 52.
Worcs needed just 7 overs to knock off the 36 runs required for victory, they did it without loss.
A very pleasing result for Worcestershire manager broncoman who has seen the worst of his players in recent matches.
The most pleasing part of this match was Razzaq's return to form. Most concerning form is that of star batsman ben smith.
Worcs winning by 10 wickets.

ND decimated....TBY leaves in tears!?!?!

Sporstline Tonite

Hello,Im Jason Dasey, lets go straight to cricket.

For the first time in history,ND were defeated under manager TBY.And he was more than upset with the teams horrific perfomance.

Batting first,ND put themselves into the coffin by scoring a paltry 104.Only Lathwell willing to put bat to ball and he scored almost half of the runs - 51.The only player to get into double figures was Jonty Rhodes,he scored 14.Martin Bicknell tore the others apart and feasted on them like a wild dog.He was the main destroyer and returned with remarkable figures of 6-33.

With the batsmen not doing their job,the bowlers decided to go on a strike!they bowled idiotically, stupidly but still got 2 early wickets.but after that...:O.Ally Brown and Graeme Thorpe put on a record stand of 244 for the third wicket and ND were virtually down and out.Thorpe went for 135,but Brown showed no signs of any mercy by continuing to butcher the attack to all corners of the ground. He found a capable "ally" in Somasunder and the pair added 124 before Somasunder finally went for 61.Henderson caused a fright by getting rid of Hollioke in the same over, but all hopes of ND perished when Brown paired well with all the tail enders.
the result-a massive score of 629-9 Declared, and the writing was on the wall..unless something miraculous could happen!

And that never did happen, again ND with a woeful perfomance with the bat, with only S Fleming holding fort with a brave 77,ND all out for 193,Surrey win by a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE innings and 332 runs margin, and now the ND stadium has been destroyed, because they do not have any fans!the season is going worse and worse for ND and TBY has elected to jump ship to Glamorgan where atleast there is a proper opener!

He had a few words for Eyez..."Well,I did what i could, but the team lost,i take full responsibility for the loss and I am extremely sorry!"

"Letting Darden go was STUPID!LOOK he scored 200!!!!:(!"

LANCASHIRE visit to Yorkshire.

Lancashire batted first and got off to a great start with A.Schiller (119) and K.Baumgarner (108) putting on 190 for the first wicket.
However it was all downhill from there as Lancashire slumped to 335 all out with none of the other batsmen contributing except the tailender R.Munnik with 30no.
Of the Yorkshire bowlers, D.Gough (20-5-75-3), M.Hoggard (22-3-76-3) and G.Hamilton (15-2-49-2) all performed well.

After the early fall of D.Fitzgerald, M.Richardson (106) and M.Vaughan (68) took Yorkshire through to 203/1.
Unlike the visitors though, the Yorkshire batsmen all chimed in with C.Hooper (82), W.Tendulkar (43) and G.Hamilton (36) helping their side amass 439 all out, a handy lead of 104.
M.Smethurst (29-5-94-3) and A.Dale (33-8-94-3) bowled well for Lancashire.

The Lancashire side failed to respond to the challenge in their second innings, being rolled for an inadequate 198 all out with M.Ramprakash (82no) vainly trying to hold the innings together.
D.Gough (19-5-48-6) was the destroyer with good support from M.Hoggard (20-5-35-2) and C.Silverwood (12-2-54-2).

Yorkshire were left with a victory target of just 96 and they achieved this with the loss of three wickets with D.Fitzgerald (53no) anchoring the effort.

Yorkshire beat Lancashire by 7 wickets in what must surely be regarded as an upset. This result leaves both sides with one win from three and in relegation territory. It will be interesting to see how both of the English sides progress from here. Hopefully they can both avoid the drop!

LOL, and Rich said he was glad you weren't around!

Well done Surrey boys - not sure quite how many records you broke, but it's a fair few.

(Laughing removed when realised that wrong team selected by GB, and Lord asked how he's going to pay GB)

However one change that will be made is Neil Smith will never see the light of day in my FC squad again....only jk Smithy like you really

Warwickshire got **** on in another disapointing effort, losing to Glamorgan by an innings and 112 :(:(:( (I think).

Muzza has just about had enough of this and has told his players if they dont preform, they will not be payed. Hopefully this piece of motivation were make them play well for a change, and fingers crossed, they will win a game.

Auckland Finally Impress

"Auckland doesn't have to win another game this season, that's how important this one was to me" Coach Ian Markus speaking to reporter Shane Warne.

Auckland began well having Colts 2-20 with Shewag and Katich back in the pavillion cheaply. However Anderson (127), Shahrath (53) and Arunkumar (51) allowed Colts to post a total of 359 with Hewitt the pick of the bowlers with 4-67. This total somewhat alarmed Ian Markus, as he felt it was one his side would struggle to get going on previous efforts.

Horne and Lloyd saw the first day out and day 2 would be the day the God's would shine. After losing Colt important Lloyd for 12, Anderson and Horne went about picking off the Colt's bowling to all areas of the ground. Horne was the first dismissed for 88 with the score on 200, and Anderson went a few overs later for 86 with the score on 247. Ian Markus was still not confident and felt his line up which had struggled so far this season may struggle again. As Chris Harris the main stayer of the innings was dismissed for 41, Ian felt the side may once again capitulate. However south african Ashwall Prince and R Nichol (85) put on 198 for 5th wicket and advanced the total to 532. Finally Prince was dismissed after amassing a huge 183 and the Colts bowlers began to hope that they may get Auckland out so that a huge 1st innings deficit wouldnot be had. but 90 runs were added for the final 4 wickets meaning Colts trailed by 294.
Ian Markus still felt that nothing was out of Colt's powerful batting line up's reach.
However whilst the powerful middle order once again looked dangerous no one really got going and they were dismissed for 276, with Hewitt once again the pick with 4-45.
It completed an amazing match for Auckland and a somewhat unfortunate one for the highly favoured COlts who were looking to become champions of D3. MOM definately must got to A Prince for his awesome batting effort.

The Colts would like to congratulate the Aucklanders on an impressive display and wish them all the best for the rest of the 4 day comp, after 3 losses hopes of promotion in the new format are almost gone and we will now have to fight not to be relegated in tthis format

Yorkshire Show something at Last

A nice report from Graham shows the game result.
Yorkshire came through with their first and possibly their last win of the season. A great upset but relegation was on the cards from day 1.

Gough and richardson actually did the work but i think as i brought 4 bowlers and a alrounder(white) it seemed to go well but white didnt bowl for some stupid reason instead hooper bowled.

McKenzie comes back but their may not be a place for him well their probably is.

bugs malone very happy with the win against arch rivals qld.

qld batting first and where looking in a good position @ 4 - 205 however m waugh was introduced and took career best figures of 5 - 28 of 6 overs. killing qld's party to be having them all out for 282. the pick of the bats for qld was a flintoff, 68 (90) and m love 65 (97). mcgrath and b lee where the other 2 bowlers to pick up 2 wickets each. with macgill out on the sidelines bugs was very happy with the performance of his bowlers in the 1st innings.

nsw batting knew they had to put in a good performance and with a few changes to the line up c richards batted well in the first innings as did l vincent given the opportunity scoring at a run a ball for his 35. c richards hit a solid 97 (200). b lara also batted well to be dissmised for 77 (107). all of the other nsw batsmen getting starts into double figures and where finaly dismissed for 377. a handy lead.

nsw would come out bowling well in qld's 2nd innings with hayden 58 (103) n hussain 45 (78) and m love 39 (63) the only batsmen to make any contribution, qld all out for 189. g mcgrath taking 4 - 47 of 18 with 7 maidens. the lee bros and symonds also all taking 2 each.

only needing 95 for victory would nsw crack under pressure. no the opening batsmen got some more runs to go with there 1st innings runs with c richards 49 (76) and l vincent 38 (70). nsw winning by 10 wickets and a good solid win.

mom was given to m waugh for his great display of bowling in the 1st innings.

bugs very happy with the result as everyone chipped in and it puts nsw in 2nd spot on the 4 day table and in outright first in the 1day table, another good game next week see's both sides meet again which will be another good challenge.
