Yorkshire name unchanged team
Yorkshire manager Greg Thomas has kept the team that drew against South Australia in the last round of First Class cricket.
Some players are 'under the microscope' according to Thomas. Though he didn't name names, sources tell us it's Roy Silva and, somewhat shockingley, captain Michael Dawn who has struggled in the longer format. However, Thomas somewhat denied this rumour.
"At the moment we've promoted all the batsmen we can without re-calling dropped players. Rookies make up the bulk of our seconds line up and we're not allowed to promote them, and in any case, I think we have a good balance in the side. We are, however, looking at fielding four specialist bowlers instead of our three bowlers plus one all-rounder attack at the moment. Obviously, we're talking about Roy Silva. He's young and had mixed results with the ball. He's not under immediate threat this round as his possible replacement P Laker is just coming back from injury. But he is under close watch" he said, outside of Headingley earlier today.

P Laker, who is coming back from injury, will lead the second eleven bowling attack.

Northern's Manager Feeling Confident

In preparation for his team's Round 10 clash with the ACT Comets the manager of Northern's 2nd XI has issued a press release stating that he is confident his team can do the business. Zac Ritchie has named an unchanged team for his team's game in Canberra, stating that he knows that his team has the potential to beat the Comets. "As a team, we know what our strengths and weaknesses are. In our last two games we have bowled our opposition out for less than 200 three times out of four." Ritchie said to a small section of media after a training session.

Rumour's have been flying through the week regarding Ritchie's choice of team selection. AS Das, the compact opener has been under pressure after failing in the last two matches. However with the team winning it's last two games there has been no real need to change the batting line-up, a situation which will suit Das as he looks to rekindle his form.

More Draws For SA

South Australia drew a dull match at the Adelaide Oval, as they fought back from a poor position with some economical bowling and good second-innings batting. New South Wales had little sting in their bowling, and only the middle order throwing the wickets away prevented a higher total than 214 - Borde fought back well with Stratton and Binny, however, ending with a gritty 29 not out. In reply, Sehwag, Parmer and Quayle eked out runs, before Binny, Stratton and Mooney took New South Wales apart - however, Roach and Moore stuck to it, and Quayle got some late runs after defending through most of the innings and ending with 70 not out.

The pitch flattened out, however, and the South Australia batsmen used it to their advantage. In one of the finest batting performances of the season, they ensured a draw by piling on 316 for four, with Mujtaba blitzing 101 and Foot and Collyer also reaching the century. However, NSW never really went for the total, ending on 104 for five after 56 overs.

(out of news report: I'm listed with 6 wins, 4 draws, but I think I've forfeit one FC game?)

Guyana Look For More Powar at the Top of the Order

Guyana continue the search to find a successful opening batting comination. While the side has been in reasonable one day form with 5 wins in the Division One competition and reaching the semi finals of the CW Bar Cup they have yet to settle on an opening combination. J. Rudolph has performed consistently at the top of the order, but is yet to score big runs, but has retained his place in the side. Donald and Gayle have been tried as his opening partners with neither being able to cement their place in the side, with Donald averaging under 15 and Gayle returning to the pavilion with two ducks from his two innings.

Today Guyana Manager Kyle Wright named in form first class batsman K. Powar as Rudolph's partner for Guyana's round 10 clash against South Australia.
"We are hoping he can take his opportunity and give us the stability at the top of the order that we desperately need." He said.

Leicestershire Name Unchanged Side

Leicestershire have named an unchanged side to that which defeated Karachi in round 9. Playing against the Colts certainly is no easy task but we will be hoping that our batsmen find form and that we can restrict the damage that the Colts are quite capable of. Bring on the game :).

RETURN OF THE SAMMY!

Sammy De Bruyn will return from a long term injury, that has kept him out of weeks of World Club Cricket games.

The young South African all-rounder will return to bat at 9, and bowl his fast, penetrative inswingers, at the Tamil Nadu First XI.

Colts shake up middle order

After some mediorce middle order batting performances over the duration of the season, Colts management have decided to shake up the middle order. Colts Captain Lennox Cush has been promoted to number 4, after some handy lower order innings that have seen the Guyanese all rounder avearge over 40 this season. His move to 4 see young Indian wicket keeper batsmen Chawla drop back down to five, where he will be followed by Butt, Abbasi and Dhawan. With a bit less pressure on this inexperience middle order and the chance to bat around experienced players such as Cush and Butt, it hoped that they finally play to their ability this season. With the Colts already two games behind run away leaders Queensland, this is a must win game for Colts, ahead of their top of the table clash against Queensland in two weeks.

Tamil Nadu would like to announce that our bowler's have been instructed to bowl as many bouncers as is humanely possible in the upcoming games. The aim is to injure as many batsman as possible to make up for Guy's completely unrelated injury. Also, this is the final warning to those oweing outstanding payments with regards to the hired goons provided by the club. That is all.

I think a bowler has to bowl at over 120km/h for a bowl to be classified as a bouncer and ball can't bounus twice. In summary your bowlers are too slow to bowl bouncers.

Thats all i got to say...

Karachi frightens Yorkshire after Love magic
A generous declaration by Michael Dawn to try and force a result nearly backfired on him as Karachi came very close to winning the match.
After a big first innings set up by centuries from Yashpal and Martin Love, the Yorkshire bowlers dismissed their rivals for 101 runs less.
Love lead the way in the second innings with an unbeaten fifty when Dawn declared with the score on 152.
An early breakthrough gave Yorkshire a sniff by Karachi fought back and nearly got home but ultimately tight bowling made sure the match ended in a draw.

Martin Love puts one away to the boundary on his way to 110.

Love finally hit a century after being Yorkshire's most consistent batsman with four fifties leading into this match. His 110 and 56* earnt him the man of the match award, while yashpal's debut century for the firsts meant he'll be kept at the top of the order for some time.

Karachi took revenge in the 2nd XI match however, with little positives for the English side. Rookies Patel and Belle continued their fine form but couldn't prevent a 7 wicket loss.
Louw and Ackerman the stars for Karachi. Louw took 7 wickets in the 2nd innings to restrict Yorkshire to under 200. Karachi bowler Monaghan amazingley hit 82 runs batting at 10 in Karachi's first innings to boost them past 300.

Karachi vs Yorkshire

Yorkshire 6 declared for 431
F Yashpal 132, M Love 110
J Pradeep 2-95, W Kaye 1-69

Karachi all out 330

Yorkshire 3 declared for 152

J Remmington 2-47, J Pradeep 1-53

Karachi 4 for 220

Dave recalled with Beasley injured.
Spinner Anup Dave has been recalled to replace opening batsmen and sometime bowler W Beasley. Beasley is out injured and Anup Dave has been in fine form for the Yorkshire 2nd XI. He scored an unbeaten 150 two matches ago and has taken 6 wickets at 20.5. He was dropped after taking just 4 wickets and mustering 54 runs.
Struggling batsman P Marsden has been promoted to the openers position while Beasley is out.

Need to sack your media manager there Geg. That picture isn't of Martin Love. First clue is that that duck looks ugly (something Love could never be accused of). Second clue, Love uses Gray Nicholls gear, not Kookaburra.

That looks a lot like Clinton Perren to me.

Northerns 2nd XI vs ACT 2nd XI Match Report

Second Innings Collapse Leads to 8 Wicket Loss

In a match where run scoring wasn't difficult it was only a matter of who was going to bowl well enough to restrict their opponents to a small total. The ACT bowlers did this well in the 2nd innings with Northern's faltering after reaching 133. 8 of their batsman reached double figures but none were able to withstand the fine bowling attack that they were faced with. "Obviously we'll be looking to turn it around and get a win in our next ODI game, because no team likes to lose two games in a row" Zac Ritchie said to a small crowd of media journalist's after the game. "The way we crumbled in that second innings was really poor, we definately should have made a score of 250 plus with all the start's that our batsman got. In the end it just comes down to concentration"

Northern's batted first and accumulated 272 runs, AS Das topscoring with 88 and K Pietersen offering some fine support in his quickfire 69. ACT quickly set to work on overtaking the total and gained an advantage when they were finally bowled out for 334, Watson, Riley and Phadke both reaching deserved half centuries while V Harkness took 4-82. A collapse then ensued where the Titan's could only stumble to 133, after which they were easy meat for the ACT batsman who chased down the total in quick time.

Thad Bochat has made a whopping 6 changes to WA's 2nd XI, mostly due to the reshuffling of the first XI side. Five 2nd XI players from last round - I Pearson, H Kanitkar, W Hopcutt, A Adams, and Q Friend - got a run in the firsts this week, while K Dean was omitted. M Vandort, M Hossain Jr, Q Spencer, J Ryder, M Beasley and J Graham all come in.

Pointer in for Watamba

Titan's Coach Makes One Change

After losing to Yorkshire 2nd XI last week manager Zac Ritchie has only made one change "We feel that by giving Pointer a game we are increasing our bowling capabilities and since our top order is in such fine form there should be no risk with our batting" the Northern's manager said to the media after naming his squad. J Watamba, the man being replaced bowled shcokingly against Yorkshire, going at over 10 an over which was surely a factor in him being replaced.

Allen Too Good
South Australia Inch Away From Relegation

Ben Allen thumped a glorious 137 not out in South Australia's vital one-day Division One clash with Guyana today, leading the way on tricky soil against challenging bowling. He was by far the highest scorer in the game, and only K Powar of Guyana looked to have any of his class - however, Powar was deprived of the chance to bat out fifty overs, as Guyana committed batting suicide when chasing.

Set a target of 257, they lost early wickets to spinner Trevor Binny, who gave the ball plenty of rip and might have had more. Indeed, it was the spinners' afternoon at Adelaide - after Binny had Jenkins stumped, Hemp and Powar rebuilt to 61 for two, before Axelby and Froggett wove destruction. Axelby received fine figures of three for 21, while Ian Mooney got slapped by Powar at the other end; it didn't matter, because Froggett rounded off with a fantastic over, which went . W W W W. Thus, South Australia eased to a 142-run win.
