RIP Hedley Howarth

JimmyGS

First Class Debutant
Had a moment of silence before cricket started today. He went to the same school as me and played for the same club. He actually presented our caps for the first 11 last season.

RIP

Only heard of him a few months ago, seems weird to hear about someone dying just after you've first come accross them.

RIP.

Remember him well, especially from 1973 when he came within a dropped catch (by wicketkeeper Ken Wadsworth who died only three years later at the age of 29) of bowling New Zealand to victory at Lords. At that time it was still over four years before they would record their first ever victory over England.

Yes I remember Howarth from that game - his record is good without being brilliant but he had a superb action and looked a class act

I dont know to much about him as i wasnt around in his day, but it seemed asthough he served New Zealand well.
