Thats based on whatever ball by ball data they had available.... probably from late 90s onwards. (it says in that table that they faced each other in only 14 innings which is not true).

Both completely different styles at number 3, both equally valid. You could do worse than having either or even both in your B-sides, Punter being pushed down to 4. I went with Ponting though (after initially choosing Dravid).

Dravid also owned murali every time in India (where the ball still turns, by the way) and also creamed him all over the ground in the kandy 2001 fourth innings runchase. I don't think there's any evidence that ponting somehow played murali like a master and Dravid was much worse.

Ponting has a lot of things to put him over dravid (better stroke player, better against high quality pace, etc) . Saying he's better against spin should be responded with nothing but laughter imo.

Only when Ashwin and Jadeja are bowling.
