Richards still King!

Here's throwing an argument out there - if a team has an awesome bowling attack, then surely their batsmen are going to be chasing smaller targets more often than not, enabling more not-outs?

Viv was not only the best ODI batsman in his era, but of all time. Sachin isn't even the best ODI batsman in his own team.
Ah, errrr, Viv Richards isn't even the best batsman in FC cricket with surname 'Richards'.

And you should be clearer about what you mean by Sachin's 'own team'. Are you talking about the team where 1956-born Vengsarkar played, or the team where 1988-born Piyush Chawla played?

I need to search the rule in CW that says that one can't bring FC cricket in an ODI discussion thread...

But yeah, I agree that was intended to be a dig on Richards in response to a dig on Sachin.

Sachin isnt even the best ODI batsman in his own team CURRENTLY( because Dhoni is invincible at the moment, and sachin isnt playing any ODIs at all)

Richards wasnt even the best ODI batsman in his own team for the last 4-5 years of his career when he struggled to average 30. So, yeah, thats just a silly point. Its what they both have achieved over their careers. Viv and Sach are the best ODI batsmen their country has ever produced by a fair distance, and theres no way anyone can argue that.

FTR, I consider Viv Richards a better ODI batsman than Sachin Tendulkar.

But no, every Tom, Dick and Dhoni isn't better than Tendulkar throughout their careers.
