Resignation

Slats4ever

International Vice-Captain
In an shock emotional press conference this evening Western Province manager Slats4ever has announced that he will be standing down from his managerial post at Western Province effective immeidately.

"The decision is definately one which I haven't taken lightly. I used to always be able to see myself as a 80 year old man still playing WCC and it has been a part of me for a while now. However due to current demands and goings on I find that I am no longer able to dedicate the time that I feel is required to manage a team properly.

I have certainly made a lot of friends since I have been a part of WCC, with too many to name individually. I would however like to make special mention of Goffy for all the hard work that he's put in and sacrifices he's made for all of us. It is something that we should all be extremely greatful of and never take it for granted. Also my dear pal Kurt (Nibbs), I feel that if it weren't for WCC we wouldn't be mates like we are, you're a top bloke.

Since joining WCC I have also been privilidged enough to have been a board member for some time for which I thank you all for that opportunity. It's one of my regrets that I wasn't able to take a more active role than I did in the running of the game. Much of this however was due to a lack of initiative on my behalf. If you have an idea guys don't just hold onto it really do something about it.

Leaving the game is something that I have been thinking about now for some time. I have however been very reserved in doing so due to the attachment I have with my Western Province team. I certainly didn't want all the work that I put into the team to go to waste. I feel that the first XI's results so far this season have been stale and I felt that it was now time for a new direction. For the short period I've worked with Jack McNamara I've found him to be a very professional manager so I'd like to extend an invite to Jack to get first priority of the position vacated by me.

Recently I have been also made a member of the MRC. If the board is willing to extend me the opportunity to continue with that position I'd love to keep up the role just so I can continue to take some part in this game.

On a final note my resignation is by no means permanent. I hope to one day have the desire and the time to take part in WCC some time down the track.

Thank you all!

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Oh, wow, I didn't expect this :( Sad to see you leave, but hopefully you'll be able to come back later on? :)

Can't say I didn't see it coming.

Sorry to see you go mate. Been one of the far more active, fun, dedicated and, indeed, talented managers ever to grace WCC. A big loss for the game.

Very disapointed to see you go Ian. You were the one to help me out with my first trade. Hopefully you will return.

Whoa that is shockin as hell..definately sad to see a long standing manager go!!..

in another news id also like to let the board and WCC know that James my co manager has decided to stand down from his post due to being caught up with all the commitments he already has. So if the board could please announce this position so people can apply for it that would be great.

2nd XI Manager Pays Tribute - Press Release

Like the rest of the WCC community, I am shocked to hear of Ian Markus' resignation from his roles with the Western Province team. Markus has been an innovative, controversial and ultimately a successful manager, and someone whom I have studied closely as his 2nd XI manager over this season thus far because he sets a template for any prospering manager to follow.

I am honoured that Markus has nominated me for the position as 1st XI manager, and it is my intention to apply for the position. As I have told Ian, if at any stage he comes back to WCC, the WP position is always open for him if he wants it.
