I thought the Test numbers are given depending on the order in which you debuted, e.g. the 123rd player for the CWXI would receive the number 123. That's the way they are allocated in Australia anyway; would be good for the CWXI to have a similar system if they don't already.

Then in the name of realism, I wholeheartedly agree with Adam. It would be nice to know your test number as well, to know that you were the n-th number to represent CW. :)

I can't see why CW would have made it encompass both formats.

I always thought it was alphabetical order. Isn't that where Slater got messed up?

Correct. Him and BJ I believe.

EDIT: Liam gets it under alphabetical anyway, apologies :p.

I don't see why someone should change numbers anyway - what happens if Cloete is called up again because of an emergency?

Retired: See Nickelgate for details on your thoughts on retirement. Why are you so against us changing numbers, marc? Does it affect you personally in any way?

Cloete coming out of retirement while Rose is wearing 10 is a possibility just like Warne coming out of retirement while Clarke is wearing 23 is a possibility. There are plenty of CW Dev League members who could get a shot... but, in the off chance that we all catch ebola, I'm sure we can deal with such a situation when it arises. However, I'd be more concerned with the injury sim in that situation. :p

But in all seriousness, marc, if you feel that for any reason that me wearing the number 23 or Rose wearing the number 10 will affect you emotionally in any way, please let us all know about the problem and I'm sure we can band together to find a solution that suits us all. However, if this does not affect you in some emotionally traumatic way, it should be fine for everyone.

These numbers are back of shirt numbers which apply in Dev League OD and full ODI cricket.

There are separate identification numbers for Test and ODI caps.

Isn't that what we Rose, marc and I were talking about? :S Either that or I'm a complete fool, in which case my apologies. :p

Neither Rose or I are in his Dev League team. Domestic competition shirt numbers have no influence on international shirt numbers.

A completely different situation and you know it.

If it were a new player coming in I could see why the player selects a vacant shirt, but once someone already has a number, I don't see why they should change.
