He only played two matches. Conspicuously avoided the D/N test in Adelaide then opted out with the series on the line in Brisbane.

He's basically the Ryan Harris of that series, a "what If?' We'll never know.

And we won't know because he pulled up stumps. Sad.

Beating down on an inferior opponent is just being a bully so he just stepped away and let his lesser colleagues finish the job…the great ones are magnanimous like that…

Jadeja has played 19 tests in SENA and hasn't done what is expected from a high quality matchwinning spinner, which is bowl out a team on a 4th or 5th day. Swann has done many times. Jadeja is a support bowler in these conditions.

It's Jadeja and it's not even close tbfh. Everything else is just copium for not wanting to recognise his greatness.

If Jadeja is a bowling great to you then your bar for greatness needs to be higher.

Give Swann the pitches that Jadeja has built his career on and I guarantee you he would be averaging in the early 20s.

Uh huh...
Why is that so hard to believe. It's an open fact that pitches in India since around 2015 spin well from day 1. Swann would make merry on such pitches. You switch the 30 odd home tests of his career to India and his record looks different.

You make anything impossible to believe so why should I give you the benefit of doubt?

Swann's done that once in South Africa, never in Australia and hasn't played in New Zealand at all. Has been good in England but again that is his home country. Many times indeed lol

Jadeja has been a support bowler because that has been his role in the team even at home. He's been a great one at that too. What a strange metric to even judge a spinner by, bowling out a team in SENA conditions on days 4 and 5

This is absolute bullshit. 2016 vs South Africa, 2017 vs Australia and 2021 vs England were the only times the conditions were like you claim it to be. Last two series had only a couple of surfaces like that

Do you even watch matches that India play or do you just go by whatever the narrative is?

Tbh Jadeja is not the same bowler as he used to be, he is just now batting all rounder, Axar Patel with Ashwin are the leading spinners.

You are wrong. Swann did it in both SA and Australia.

It's not a weird metric. The basic expectation of having a spinner for a captain is that when your teams has a good lead or defendable score then the spinner takes advantage of wear and tear in the wicket to bowl teams out. Murali, Kumble, Harbi, Mushtaq, Saqlain, Herath etc all did it at least once outside the SC.
