Whatever it takes!!!
the only abroad that matters for a South African is Australia. Beating up on 1990s England or India is not a thing. That's like Ashwin beating up on the West Indies
I actually think Windies away today pose more of a fight than India did away in the 90s.

Ashwin is the 3rd greatest spinner in the modern post 1970s era and an ATG test cricketer, spinner and bowler.

Donald is also a great bowler but I wont quite put him in ATG category yet. The relative averages for pacers and spinners of each era is also pretty telling with respect to where they stood. To me, Ash is an ATG test player and Donald is not. Its a simple vote from there on.

What makes Ashwin an ATG bowler and not Donald?

Extra salty when India beats a side at home in less than 2 days, who beat Pak in their home pretty convincingly.

Gotta love the salt.

And since some emojis were used yesterday to showcase who looks like what when posting in the forum, here's salty every time India or Indians do well....

I love Ashwin but Donald was a beast home and away. I have tapes of his duels with Indian batsmen, prime Sachin Tendulkar, young Dravid one of the best U25 test batters in the history of the game ..Some of the best fast bowling you'll ever see ..

Also stats vs Aus dont show the whole story about Donald vs Australia, the Waugh bros in particular got very very lucky against him in battles Down Under

Yeah hopefully he shores up his numbers on the next tour.

On raw quality alone, Donald wins this quite clearly. Unfortunately he had a much shorter career than he should have, for reasons beyond his control. He was a candidate for 400+ wickets if he debuted a couple of years earlier. White Lightning was one of my favorite childhood bowlers. Could remember a few occasions he ran through the Indian lineups in 92 and 96 series.

Voted it as close because Ashwin has picked up 500+ wickets at a handsome average which is no mean achievement in spite of skewed up home/away numbers.

I rate Ashwin really highly as a bowler, very close to Donald in that respect to begin with, so with batting I think that gives Ashwin the edge in a close one over Donald.

How many quicks do you consider to be ATGs?
