The thread is on raw talent. Tendulkar has the best technique in the game which is accepted by all.

For example, Dravid would be rated quite low (maybe in 70s) for raw talent, but had great technique to propell him to ATG status, and arguably the best batsman against swinging ball.

Tendulkar was super talented but I would say in his career his achievements were mainly due to temperament, being well mature ahead of his years.

When you're a 16 year old playing against adults you can't overcome the difference in physical development through temperament. Succeeding at a young age is the most obvious indication of pure innate talent.

Yeah it's why Asian teams tend to do better at youth levels imo.

Not because they're more talented, but because the other structural limitations they face haven't had time to widen the gap between them and other countries.

Though a bit of age cheating certainly helps too..

I agree but think about him peaking in his early 20s and dealing with all that extra fandom without losing your balance. Takes extraordinary mature temperament to stay focused.

iirc you can have both talent and a mature temperament. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

I agree with that. Sehwag just stuck to what worked in a sense but his physical gifts of timing, reflexes and power very few had

He was also a tall bloke, which was unusual for a top bat, and had a creative genius behind his strokeplay.

I also rate KP super high on talent. He has a creativity to his batting that is unique.

Actually think Babar in terms of talent was a smidge ahead of Kohli but lacks his sheer determination.

Dont think babar is more talented then kohli. Both are equal in talent but kohli is miles ahead when it comes to hard work example kohli was not power hitter when he first emerged but now can hit sixes with like abd or Gayle. Babar even now doesn't have 5th gear
