So England is ahead aswell as behind Lanka.1. South Africa

3. Australia
4. England
5. Sri Lanka
6. England
7. Pakistan
8. New Zealand
9. West Indies
10. Bangladesh
obviously.. England are good enough to field two international teams. So England is ahead aswell as behind Lanka.
Yea thats what i was saying. The fact that the selectors can't back the man with the domestic form over the bloke with the natural talent is very bad sign - even though i can see why the selectors would want to back Yuvraj to come good.no.. he is always looked upon as a solid player. Selectors have gone to Yuvraj because they believe he is potentially more of a match winner...
You are speaking as if you just pick the batsmen with the best average. Cricket doesn't work like that. You can't just pick the highest averaging openers, the 4 highest averaging middle order bats and then put them from 1-6 and think you can win games... There are different types of players and you need to be able to choose the right sort of players who can help make the team as complete as possible. With Rahul, Laxman and Sachin in his recent style of batting, India seriously need a gamebreaker type player at 6 and that is why they have gone to Yuvraj. Obviously, there is the risk that he never really learns and works out a sorta okayish technique that can work for him... But it is a risk they can afford because they have the buffer of 3 top batters in the batting line up plus an ever improving Dhoni there... I am sure the scenario would have been different had say a Dravid retired...Yea thats what i was saying. Using another AUS example. In 2004 when Clarke was the young talent, he started well & failed, he was immediately axed for Hodge who had the domestic runs.
All this is true. IND definately can afford to give Yuvi a chance @ 6 given the solidity of he top 5 ATM.You are speaking as if you just pick the batsmen with the best average. Mike Hussey disagrees. All this is true. IND definately can afford to give Yuvi a chance @ 6 given the solidity of he top 5 ATM.
But overall i was attacking Dravid position on whether he should/could have been dropped if he where AUS & i do believe so, especially after the way he batted vs AUS last october. If he was AUS regardless of how great he was, he wouldn't have played in the series vs ENG. The selectors would have tapped him on the shoulder because a domestic batsman would have forced him out.
That is not just how i think AUS selectors would react either - its a proven fact. The example i used before with Mark Waugh in 2002 a situation very similar to Dravid recent form slump proves this.
Pakistan being worse then an England 2nd XI. I guess its time to kiss goodbye to cricket for everobviously.. England are good enough to field two international teams.
rotf...Pakistan being worse then an England 2nd XI. I guess its time to kiss goodbye to cricket for ever
In no series in the last 6 months of Hussey little trott, did he average 17 like Dravid did vs AUS. I guarantee you though if Hussey didn't score a hundred in the 5th test, he definately would have been dropped for AUS upcoming test vs WI & PAK.Mike Hussey disagrees.
