I am not in the least bit convinced about Tiwary after seeing him in Australia, he has a lot of time left but he will have to learn fast if he wants to make a comeback.
Not fair on him at all. He was flown in the day before and asked to bat at No.5 before he could get out of his jet lag. He was facing Brett Lee on a favorable surface and was bounced time and again before a yorker ended his misery.

Well that is true, the IPL and 20-20 has aided Indian cricket in finding the likes of Yusuf Pathan,Praveen Kumar etc and rebuilding careers like Gambhir,Sehwag, Harbajhan etc. I think its not entirely useless in it does help build players mental focus towards international cricket.
Entirely useful definately. A revamped domestic system would reduce the need to use the IPL as this talent scouting system though.

The domestic structure is a problem that needs addressing from several good captains/selectors and administrators alike. This will happen if future Indian captains follow the likes of Ganguly into some sort of administration role in the BCCI to affect the future of Indian cricket.
Certainly. Those best poised will be those who have played in the system, given thought to it and also have played abroad - as a frame for comparison.

Even allowing for the jet leg he had in Australia + facing Brett Lee who is at least 10kph quicker than anyone he had faced before, he had one good FC season two seasons back. Last season, he was inconstent and this season he has churned out just two centuries so far in the Plate League. His OD form has been poor whereas he should have plundered his fair share of runs on flat pitches against some of the joke opposition recieved in the Ranji One Day Trophy.

Well actually forgetting the excuses, it was more that he was stunned by the pace. The same thing happened to him in the IPL when he faced Shoaib Akthar. If he has a good season this year, I will be one of the first to retract my comments but I have seen too many one season wonders from domestic cricket who have faded away. If memory serves me right, Robin Uthappa was one of the top players in domestic cricket a few seasons ago, it hardly gives a true account of the standard of domestic cricket considering he is barely an ODI player let alone a 20/20 cricketer.

You forget that Shoiab on his day can get anyone. That was his day.

But apart from excuses, I was amazed how he went from almost test prospect to nowhere in the reckoning in a matter of a year. The injury on the eve of his debut series was so tragic,
