Almost always tend to disagree with "he's selfish" accusations personally - Yousuf is not a natural improvisor, and there are many you'd prefer to have batting at the end of an innings than he. But no batsman should ever attempt to lose his wicket.Heard him say this in the post match analysis. Kinda agree with him his batting in the last 10 overs was pretty poor considering we had enough wickets he should have been more aggresive.
It would have made a big difference, INdia would have chased the larger total differently.Almost always tend to disagree with "he's selfish" accusations personally - Yousuf is not a natural improvisor, and there are many you'd prefer to have batting at the end of an innings than he. But no batsman should ever attempt to lose his wicket.
It's not like Pakistan would have been likely winners with another 30 runs (and that'd have been far more than they'd have been likely to get too) anyway, India cantered it.
Harsh words I reckon. One has to question the intent of the Pakistan batsmen because I thought they were going nowhere today. Their batsmen seemed to be playing according to ten different scripts and nobody seemed to be following the overall team script. A selfish streak dominated their play. The team goals were put on the backburner. If you looked at [Mohammad] Yousuf's innings, you could straightaway make out that he was more keen to play for himself [than the team]. He has now become a statsguru; he's always looking after himself and doesn't appear to be playing for the team. That is the impression I got from his innings; otherwise, why would Pakistan lose matches whenever he has scored runs for his team? So I think he needs to improve his overall strike-rate if he is to become a potent force in the middle order.
Its a wonder that either team won, with Yousuf and Tendulkar both scoring big."Why would Pakistan lose matches whenever he has scored runs for the team?"
Agree fully.....Moyo's strike rate 95.19, Tendulkar's strike rate 95.09. when Yousuf walked into bat Pak's score was 78/2 in 19.3 overs which was < 4. His last 50 runs came in 41 balls. Need we say more.
Rameez should try to do his job well and learn to pick the right player for his criticism. His assertion that Pakistan is losing the games where Yusuf making big scores is stupid and ignorant at best. How does he explain Why Pakistan lost 3rd ODI when Salman Butt scored 129 ? Pakistan have lost not because of Yusuf's knock but despite his knocks and that can only mean that Pakistan's batting performance as a team has not been better than Indian batting.
India has had 5 100+ partnerships, Pakistan has had only ONE (in the 2nd ODI, result of which was in Pak's favor))
Looking for a scapegoat has always been the way really.Seems an easy way out for many of today's commentators to pick on a not so aggressive LOOKING batsman and point them out as the cause for the team's failures.
It's hard to dispute such a well reasoned argument.rameez raja is a loud-mouth moron...
