Why do we need another batsman when we have got a group of Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Kaif, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Ganguly, Mongia, Sriram to select 7 batsmen ?

IMO we need a bowler who is a decent batsman.
perhaps because tendulkar, dravid, laxman and ganguly will not always be there, and competition is a good thing. guys like raina and venugopal and shikhar dhawan should be considered, doesn't mean they should definitely be selected right away though.

Yes Competition is a good thing, but I dont know if it is really going to fix the issue. What the current Indian team needs is a balance in form of a couple of decent all rounders and I dont think Raina qualifies as one. Although I agree if a player starts failing consistently, then new faces should be given a fair chance to perform and succeed.

So its fine if you want to promote Raina, please dont create false hope that he is an allrounder.

Sorry, someone was quoting his bowling figures and I assumed they were talking about his bowling skills as well.

Anyways my point remains valid though why do we need another batsman when it is our bowling which is the weak point, we would rather need an allrounder who can bowl well and a decent bat.
