As I posted above Id rather bowl at Sachin than Dravid and the same goes for KP and Kallis. They crush bowlers spirits yet we still get the 'Dravid and Kallis' are boring posts whenever they play. Im sure it drive you as crazy as it does me.

Dravid is a machine and it will be interesting to hear our childrens and our childrens children view of his legacy in the future.

Now, what I am saying is very different from calling them 'boring'. Dravid is easily the second best batsman in the world. Why isn't he #1? Because Ponting scores as much as Dravid, but does it faster. And though Ponting doesn't have the aura of a Lara or Tendulkar....at this rate he soon will.

No, Sorry SS, I was not accusing you of saying they were boring just that every now and again the topic crops up and a surprising number of people subscribe to that opinion.

Yes, I know. ANd I want to personally stangle every person who said that. Can you believe people were accusing him of this during the 4th WI test, where he was the ONLY person on either side who actually knew how to bat??

SJS,
What would your all time Pak XI be? You may have already posted this, but I would be delighted if you would post it once more here. And I know this may be asking a lot, but can you also explain your choices? You are probably one of the more knowledgeable students of the game and I would love to read your opinions on the all time Pak team.
Thanks for the compliments.

I will do it later today...I hope:)

Best Batsman from the subcontinent is Sunny Gavaskar.

Next are Rahul Dravid, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, Sachin Tendulkar, G Vishvanath, Mohinder Amarnath, Hanif Mohammad and Arvinda Desilva in no particular order.

Very hard to disagree with Sunny G being the best. The opening slot always gets a few extra points in my book, plus he played such a lone hand its not even funny. It was worse than Sachin in the nineties. Openers averaging above 50 are like diamonds, you can start wars over them.

Maybe England can invade Aus and steal Hayden?

As a batter I could just about have him in my top 10...maybe ?

I would have him in my top ten also, alongside another 'disgraced' cricketer Saleem Malik.

Personally, I wouldn't rate Zaheer Abbas so highly - he strikes me as the type of player who although very talented, was very inconsistent as well. Similar with Aravinda, plus, both were much worse away from home.

Zaheer Abbas was a genius against medium pace and below - anything higher on non flat wickets and he was embarrassing

For me - Gavaskar, Hanif and Tendulkar in no particular order.

I think again our Legend i.e. SJS can explain how good was Hanif .
I mean that dude made that 333 or something against Windies in Windies and that was a great innings ...
