Ataraxia almost always picks in the early morning. I will have to pick after him since our categories line up.

By the way, I personally think Chanderpaul is criminally underrated in drafts on here.

Who would you say he's better than and who would you say he's worse than in the same ballpark of ability as him just so I know how highly you rate him?

I personally rate him quite highly and racked up impressive numbers despite having the pressure of carrying a fragile batting lineup but that is probably influenced by seeing West Indies cricket quite a bit and me being relatively young so my first memories of seeing West Indies test cricket centre around him.

Well, no offense to ataraxia but I think he's better than Harvey. I think he's better than Hussey as well. He's just below the Waugh/Border tier IMO.

But in general I tend to see him go quite late in drafts and I think he's better than that.

Harder to judge players you haven't seen (Harvey) but I'd probably say that is fair. I guess some drafts perhaps influenced by nationality limits but he does have a very impressive record, done well in most countries and may have an even slightly better record if he had other class batsman to bat around.

Perhaps unfairly I'd probably rate Border/Waugh quite a bit higher subconsciously but I mean outside the top part of the ATGs - and most of them end up batting at 3 or 4 not many have been as good as him. In some ways the fact he wasn't the greatest middle order batsman aesthetically endears him to me more. Hopefully with time his perception will grow as guess he is recently retired and whilst I rate Chanderpaul over Cook I think Cook too is often underrated with both recently retired. What might play against Chanderpaul is he was famed for grit, not dissimilar to Cook whereas someone like a Sangakarra (and this isn't a criticism of him) for example has flowing cover drives to be remembered by.

Re Chanderpaul it depends what batting position you need to cover. If going for a 5/6 I'd definitely rank him highly, but wouldn't consider him if I needed a 3/4. As Ataraxia already had Armstrong and Cairns at 5 and 6 I think Neil Harvey or other currently unselected players are better options.

I needed a 3/4, admittedly forgot about Chanderpaul but Harvey is generally considered to be up there with Waugh by CW.

Surprised MacLaren went so many rounds before Hayward

Same opening role, same era, similar test records but Hayward with a far superior FC record therefore probably the better bat

Quite like the fact that I've got 255 FC tons at the top of the order. Would've preferred Shrewsbury but I'll take him.
