Mustafizur's debut year in ODIs where he took 26 wickets in 9 ODIs at 12 apiece, including consecutive 5-fers against a full strength Indian team which led to Bangladesh's first ever ODI series win over India.

Richard Hadlee from 1980 and Malcolm Marshall from 1982 onwards to the end of their careers. They were still magnificent in their last series and never took it easy in county cricket.

Imran Khan's 40 wickets against India in 82 and Hadlee's 33 against Australia in 85-86 come to mind. The greatest fast bowling performances in a series ever.

Lara's three tons Australia in 99 were the best quality tons I have seen in such a sequence.

South African fast bowling had hit the purple patch from 2010 till 2013. Bowled out Australia (47 all out), NZ (45 all out) and Pakistan (49 all out) in that span of time.

Kapil Dev had 75 wickets in an incredible 18 tests in 1983 @ 23.18 bowling as the sole test level bowler in his side for most of the time with only batting AR Ravi Shastri as his support. The second highest amount of wickets that year was 54 by Marshall. 11 of those 18 tests were against the ATG WI side against whom he took 46 wickets @ 20.89. The remaining 6 tests were against Pakistan which was the second best side at the time. He also scored 579 runs @ 22.26 to add to the above including a 100* out of 95 balls against a bowling attack of Marshall, Holding, Roberts and Garner at Port of Spain.

That is not even the most remembered part of his year as he also led India to an impossible world cup victory in 1983 scoring 303 runs @ 60.06 with a SR of 108.99 and taking 12 wickets @ 20.41 over 8 games.

Another great purple patch for Kapil was his first full year in test cricket in 1979 at the age of 20 which was another time he led the wicket taking charts in tests by a massive margin. He took 74 wickets @ 22.9 and scored 609 runs @ 30.9 in 17 tests.

The below puts into context the bowling attack Kapil was working with in 1983:

From the beginning of that WI tour in 1983 till end of 1986, Kapil had an outstanding peak in ODIs as well.

85 wickets at 22.64(ER 3.50)
1388 runs at 30.84(SR 103.04 :-O )

And crucial contributions in WC 1983 and WCC 1985.

The first great ODI allrounder and arguably the best ODI cricketer in the world during this period when he was like Mcgrath+Sehwag combined.

and just because it's Graeme Hick of all people, I love his little period in the 98/99 ODI tri series, against the 2 previous WC finalists SL and Australia, where he had 4 innings on the trot, in a little over a week of 108, 66*, 126* and 109. For that brief period he really had finally lived up to the hype

1997 friendship cup played between India vs Pakistan saw probably the peak of Sourav Ganguly as a Bowler -- out of 5 completed matches he remained mom in 4 , was the leading run scorer of both sides, was also the leading bowler by some margin.... Could go down as the most dominated series of all time by a single player.

" The 1970-71 West Indies tour was the last chance for Dilip Sardesai. He was lucky to be picked - it had looked as if his career was dead and buried - he went on to be Indian cricket's Renaissance Man in the watershed year of 1971. A technically correct player, the solid, wristy Sardesai was proficient against spin, but in West Indies he showed his mettle against pace, and pulled India repeatedly out of quicksand. He scored 642 runs, with two single hundreds and a double, and provided an inspirational launching-pad for a legend - Sunil Gavaskar, in his first series. "
