Interesting...terrible results for Somerset really...I expected much more from my batting, although I attribute a lot of the losses to the pitch conditions. (Unless many of them were spinners wickets...)

Province Prove point before season proper

Winning 5 out've 5 was enough to make the WCC world stand up and take notice of the WP cricket side. With some fine individual performances from Z Birch 247 and 134, Funston 108 and 104, Anderson 105, E Drumbill 100, R Llewellyn and Z Birch 184 run opening stand, N Khan 5/69, Q Friend 6/64, N Kumble 5/86...

There were also lots of other notable performances to come out've the match... The sweetest win came when we beat NSW by 2 runs... following up from our 1 wicket win in the play off game.

Guyana won 4 out of 5, but did lose a match to the team that is in their division (div 5). Guyana won't be taking too much out of these results as the line-ups weren't even close to the first XIs. However, we will be looking for more from our bowlers.

i dont take much notice of the results more the individual performances as the teams are randomly picked some players ply although they wouldnt etc..

happy with a few individual performances, jp duminey scored 281 and d ferguson taking 9 - 24 some that spring to mind...... very interesting though......

Hm... I got put into a pretty weak group. Won 4 from 5 but the team that was being used was pretty unrealistic of the TN FIrst XI.

But otherwise I pretty much hammered most teams in the batting. And it was the bowling that was under strength.

Five very close games - most of the players performed, and this'll have to be a team season. Very pleased with coming back from following on against South Australia - Kale's double ton was important there. Brad Haddin pushing hard for inclusion, too..

Won 2 and lost 3 but i was excpecting my side to struggle so i'm not too disheartened, the loss to my fellow div 6 side was close (27runs), but was dissapointed to lose to Guyana after enforcing the follow on, fantastic 210 from Indulkar. who scored 495runs@70odd in 4 matches.

Guyana are the Kings of coming back after following on. Did it twice last season.

Always nice to start a pre season with 3 wins 2 losses in which the only losses occured to teams in one division higher. Some good performances and some average ones but the season is completely different so i won't be getting my hopes up until season results come in.

A couple of pleasing results individually - D Bent getting 25 wickets @ 13.28 and 209 runs @ 41.80 in 4 games was very pleasing, heres hoping he can keep up the form. Also first draft pick Dave Hussey did reasonably well for himself. 550 @ 137.50 with a couple of 170's and only a few failures innings. Will be looking out for big things from him during the season.

Looking alright so far, I'm actually happy for once about my team.

WCC Auckland

Very encouraging 5 wins in 5 games for Auckland. More positive than simply the scoreline is the way in which the games were won. Good competitive cricket throughout with impressive spirit even when behind, epitomized by scoring 367/3 in the second innings to beat Jamaica and 295/8 to beat Leicestershire.

Only one game against a team from my division though - won by an innings and 40 runs.

Rennie Plummer took 27 wickets in the 5 games.
Alex Tudor took 22 in 4.
H Tebbrugge took 17 in 4.
Oliver O'Neill took a surprise 15 in 3.
R Doshi took 7 in 2.

Bowling was my real concern entering this season, but these figures are encouraging. Now I just hope they can find their accuracy and rhythm in the limited over games.

im not taking much notice of those at all, last season we got flogged in all those games, but still comfortably won the title. the real positive was probably van Jaarsveld's form...

Getting 5 wins on the board was a good effort for us, Thornley batted pretty solidly throughout while most of the other batsman got atleast one solid innings under their belt, some tinkering with the lineup should have it fireing come the real season. the bowling was quite good with Gul and Richie leading a fairly well balanced bowling attack.

My OD side is quite a bit weaker so we will have to see what happens with them...

Some pleasing results there. It was no surprise that NSW scored a big total against only 1 of my first choice 4d bowlers. The batting will be a concern I think. I will trying not to get relegated back to Division 2. I think Surrey and us will be fighting that battle.
