Pre Season Friendlies

We weren't expecting anything from FC anyways..but may as that be, our full bowling strike force wasn't there. Neither were our proper bowlers used, so a bit ambivalent about those results really.

Some good results for our bowlers but our batting was hilariously woeful. Though that should change when a full XI is fielded...

Plus you got 0wned in the 2nds :p
not overly worried bout that, cos our second string side is very different to what the system put out.

F Milligan has been named the player of the seires for WA pre season matches. 45 wickets at 14, gotta hope he carries that form into the regualr season

Northerns 2 had some standout rookie performances

WP first XI manager isn't too fussed with these results. Sure we didn't play as well as we liked but we were missing a lot of our top players who were given leave for the friendlies to go play in various South African grade cricket fixtures.

nsw looking at the friendlys see alot of draws but not too many losses, some good personal performances from alot of players and tehy ware all fighting for first xi selections. not reading too much into it but its good to get a few friendlies out of the way.

Wow Oulton, way to average 3.83 in NSW. Seriously though, the batting against NSW was rubbish. Only Midlane and Walker did well, though no one hit a hundred. Silva and Straw both impressed with the ball though, so some encouraging signs there.
In the home series, Gibbs was absolutley phenomenal with his average of 114.33 and knock of239.* Mullick contributed well and Oulton redeemed himself with a century, while Straw bowled well again.

Not even sure if the away series in the ACT warrants comment. At least Midlane managed to average 40. The home series against ACT was even worse, with Mashonaland at one stage being bowled out for 64 and then 96. Encouragingly, Walker averaged under 15 with the ball.

Glad to win both 1st XI and 2nd XI series, the boys will take a lot of confidence from that. The bowlers played very well and some of the batsmen really put their hands up. However, this is room for improvement and this exercise was fantastic in sorting out who id really willing to put in.

Victoria are very disappointed in these results, and if this is a sign of what is to come in four day this season we will truely struggle.

One has to feel sorry for our Rookie:
Matty Attewell 17 inns, 1 run, 16 ducks.

Quite disappointed in those results. Got thumped more or less every game and we seemed to struggle to make more then 90..... For a team with the majority over 40 bat avg's i'd expect more. Needless to say looks like it's going to be a season of survival.

Just wanted to double check that V Philander's stats aer corret in ITC Blewy?

Just wanted to make suer because he avergaes 45 with the bat and s/r of 46 or so with the ball but he didn't play matches for 1sts or 2nds.

Very happy with the preformance of the Karachi 2nds...although that's a diff team to the one that will probably be available to me, everyone preformed extremely well, so it looks good for Karachi allround.

Graham Wagg was found to be under the influence of recreational drugs during the friendly series, and mistakenly believed he was the captain. Any attempts to wrest the ball from the SA all-rounder usually ended in brawls on the pitch, which may be the cause of South Australia - and Wagg in particular (293 runs @ 15.42, 37 wickets @ 34.22) underperforming. Wagg has been sent to a rehabilitation clinic in Alice Springs, and hopefully won't return to Adelaide until the season is over.
