The most notable omission is Abdul Qadir - one of Benaud's favourite bowlers. Apart from Qadir all of the other available favourite players got picked I think.

In a nutshell, went for the teams with the classical leg-break googly bowler backed-up by some aggressive pace bowling and batting. Overall, the team must be both attacking and entertaining. If some of Richie's favourite players were included then so much the better.

Unprecedented as far as I can recall. We need a brave person to vote and break the deadlock.
Love the footie team, Watson!

But Che Capitano? Ahead of Moore, Baresi, Scirea, Nesta and all?

Also, I would get Leo in ahead of Ronaldo. Ronaldo is my favourite player of all time but think Leo has done enough to be considered higher than O Fenomeno.

I did consider Moore, Baresi, Scirea and Nesta as the teams Sweeper but in the end couldn't go past Beckanbauer as the 'ball playing' Centre-Back. So the role of 'stopper' Centre-back really had to go to Cannavaro who dominated the 2006 World Cup. I also liked Desailly and the great Santamaria in that role as well.

Messi is competing with Pele, Maradonna, and Cryff for one of the forward positions, and I couldn't bring myself to leave any of those three out. So Messi sits on the bench and Ronaldo (Brazil) becomes the stand-alone Striker in the centre of the attack. In effect Ronaldo, Pele, Maradonna, and Cryff together create a 'diamond' formation. The other classic Striker I considered was Muller (Germany 1974), but he was a 'poacher' and I wanted a more versatile and complete player up-front.

Initially I picked Matthaus as the Box-to-Box Midfielder, but in the end chose Neeskens because of his legendary partnership with Cryff. Peters, Robson, and Tigana unlucky. I don't think that there has been a better defensive Midfielder than Rijkaard, so he camps just in front of the back-four.

Zoff was so cool in goal, and speaks the same lingo as his CB and LB which can't hurt when trying to organise the defense - so he edges out Yashin, Banks, Maier.....

Anyway, I see that no one extra has voted yet.

Think Nesta and Moore were quite complete to feature alongside a sweeper, TBH. They weren't your out and out stoppers like a Gentile but they were very complete and could play alongside Beckenbauer.

My All Time XI:-

Cruyff-----------------Pele-------------------Messi
---------------------Maradona------------------------
------------Matthaus-------Rijkaard---------------
Maldini----Baresi-----Beckenbauer----Vogts
------------------------Yashin--------------------------

Subs:- Buffon, Moore, Thuram, Di Stefano, Garrincha, Puskas, Ronaldo.

Indeed, Cannavaro compliments Beckenbauer better than other top CBs.

Looks like the week is up and that SK's great team has the most votes. A worthy winner over the 5 tied for 2nd place I reckon.

Whatever it takes!!!
I still think the epicness of RedHill' side is rather underrated in this poll.. That team would not just be ultra successful but bloody watchable..
