once the last poll is over, lets select a skipper (hutton is my only choice TBH) and then combine the two teams to create the post WW 2 team
Hutton was the first captain to try and slow the over rate down, dour batsman, dour captain, great player

I would like to see what Keith Miller could do with a Test team if given the chance (yes I know it is not a real match):)

From memory he was VC to Johnson when the latter missed a Test, but Miller also had to pull out and Morris became captain for the match.

wouldnt it be great to see a captain turn around and tell his team to simply "scatter" to set his field? and how about just stating "one of you buggers just bugger off" when 12 players walked on to the field by mistake?

nuggets spent one whole night drinking to celebrate the birth of one of his children and turned up inebriated for a FC game. he took the new ball and bowled the opposition out with a furious spell of fast bowling (7-27 I think) and went to sleep while his team went to bat.

yeah, archie. just from the stories, real and apocryphal, an image of keith miller emerges in my mind that is hip, ultra cool and absolutely contemporary. he would make gayle, mark waugh, shane warne and imran look like MCC members.

may be we should do a 5 way poll for the skipper between hutton, miller, gavaskar, sobers and greg chappell.

Yes although Freddie might have something to say about that, as he was the GLY, Lindwall also captained Aust, but the five you have sounds good to me:)

Ever wanted to see bagapath getting beaten to death by Goughy? Stay tuned.
actually this is a mistake of a younger mind than i feared. i meant "freddie" flintoff and thought the "was" joke was about him no longer being the force that he was 4 years ago. didnt realize for a second we are talking about "the" freddie. i actually feel good i connected freddie with flintoff; should tell my wife who is worried about my being a fan of trumper's even though he died 58 years before i was born and there is not a single video of his batting.

i don't know if we could get trueman to play under anyone other than hutton.
