Playing selector: Lets pick the best test XI of different eras

It is a terrible pitty that Test cricket's beginning had to culminate with the beginning of W.G.'s decline.

True, although his average is pretty good when compared with his contemporaries (did I spelt that right? ), who played Tests during the same period

I am afraid I would not vote for the good doctor - much as I would like to.

(My opening votes went for Hobbs and Trumper btw)

I do not think there would be a place for Grace in the XI - however, I see no problem in Grace taking up the role of Manager of the Team.

The good doctor or Mr Jardine as manager

I've opened the poll for the # 3 batsman. I'm 99.94% Bradman will win but it's the fair way to run the poll for the position as some people might have different ideas for the team.

Question: can Trumper be included in the poll for #4, or #5? He played a fair proportion of his innings at 5 IIRC, at an average that was better than his opening ave...
I'm happy to include him in the # 5 poll.

It is indeed, but it is unquestionably nothing when contrasted with the summits that it scaled during his heyday in the first-class cricket of the 'seventies. (You did spell "contemporaries" correctly, by the way.)

What an incredible-looking team that is! Although not many of my selections made the cut, it is nevertheless already a very commanding and (more importantly) romantic combination.

The battle of the final bowlers should be interesting. I hope Grimmett and O'Reilly get in would be an awsome spin attack, with Faulkner.
