Khawaja 3 - got a decent start first innings which enabled the middle order to dominate, but still doesn't look very comfortable and the knives are starting to come out.
McSweeney 2 - no runs but at least ate up time when an collapse could've caused trouble.
Labuschagne 2 - awful shot after doing the hard work. He seems to be too easy to frustrate right now.
Smith 8 - it wasn't pretty (at least the first 50 runs weren't), but it was an extremely important ton when Australia (and him) really needed it. And yet, might've cost Australia the game with that drop....
Head 10 - machine. Is keeping Australia's batting afloat single-handedly. What was most impressive about this knock is that it was extremely controlled, his only drop happening when he was well past 100. MOTS so far, along with Bumrah.
Marsh 1 - he shouldn't be playing. If he's selected for the MCG it's suicide.
Carey 7 - very good 70-odd to keep the momentum going after a bit of a mini-collapse and give Australia a big enough score to try to push for victory. Kept well too, including taking a screamer.
Cummins 8 - faltered with the last wicket partnership, but before that was superb. Also put on a nice partnership with Carey. It's safe to say the slump he had for a few Tests was just that and he's bowling as solidly as ever.
Starc 7 - two wickets in his first two overs, then a bit quiet after that though still bowled reasonably well and the lack of bowling options meant that Australia couldn't use him in the best way possible. Decent cameo with the bat.
Lyon 4 - not great. Didn't bowl terribly but wasn't particularly penetrative and needed a freak catch for his one wicket. With Hazlewood down he had to step up for Australia to win the Test, and him not doing so doomed the game to a draw.
Hazlewood 5 - bowled well before breaking down. Given the circumstances his selection will bring up a lot of question marks. I don't know whether the calf strain was linked to the side strain or not, but it does feel awfully coincidential.
Jaiswal 1 - 4 and out. Seems after the "bowl faster" sledge Starc has had the wood on him massively.
Rahul 7 - has looked the most comfortable of the Top 6. Did get dropped early-ish in his knock but made the most of his luck and was perhaps unlucky to get out to such a good catch. Unlike the rest of the Indian batting lineup has batted with a plan and other than gloving a few short balls he's been excellent so far.
Gill 1 - what on earth was that shot so early when you were already one down.
Kohli 1 - it looks llike the hundred at Perth was a fluke. It's just very easy to work him over right now and the end feels like it's coming.
Pant 2 - it's clear he's not moving as well as he used for (for admittedly understandable reasons) and it's having a bit of an impact on his batting. He just doesn't feel as comfortable in the middle as he once did. Wasn't terrible with the gloves, I suppose.
Sharma 1 - looks in awful touch. While you can argue he's batting out of position, he still looks out of sorts and if it wasn't for the captaincy he'd be out of the side quick smart.
Jadeja 7 - very good innings when India needed it. However, his bowling was pretty ineffective and was battered significantly by Head.
Reddy 5 - not as good as the first two Tests with the bat, but did put on a good partnership with Jadeja when failure might lead to Australia rolling the rest of the batting lineup quickly and putting them under pressure for the rest of the Test. Did take a wicket but a higher workload did expose the fact that his bowling at least right now probably isn't good enough for Test cricket.
Siraj 4 - hot and cold. Did bowl some good balls, but also threw up a heap of short crap that went the journey. At least he didn't completely lose his head, I guess.
Bumrah 9 - he's just very good isn't he? Has carried India all series. If India get a positive result from the series, it's up there with one of the greatest series of all-time. Injuries and weird scheduling has hurt his longevity somewhat, but we're talking one of the greatest bowlers of all-time at this point.
Deep 6 - a bit unlucky with the ball in the first innings, though I do feel like he went down the Hilfy path a bit too much in that he bowled in pretty areas but perhaps didn't bowl a wicket-taking line and length often enough. That said, his innings (and partnership with Bumrah) turned out to be really important in saving the Test. Why was he batting below Siraj exactly?
