As typical for a series with a subforum.
Shaw 1 - game just looks shot. Poor fella.
Agarwal 2 - stayed in a bit first innngs, but really added little. Two peaches to get him but I worry about his backlift on these pitches.
Pujara 4 - lots and lots of balls eaten up first innings and managed a start. Couldn't really do anything about his second innings dismissal.
Kohli 7 - one of the few bats to bat with any kind of fluency on either team, and really should've scored a match-winning ton. Was sold up a river massively with that run out. Not the shot he should've played second innings but I can at least see the logic.
Rahane 3 - did manage a 40-odd but looked uncomfortable doing so. Loses points for running out his captain and getting out at a really awful time in the first innings.
Vihari 2 - similar-ish case to Agarwal, except didn't eat up as many deliveries. Was also done over by two excellent deliveries.
Saha 2 - just looks lost against this attack, the second innings dismissal was one of the few genuinely bad ones for India. Also dropped two catches.
Ashwin 8 - leading wicket-taker for the Indians. Probably got some gimmie wickets but his overall pressure building was excellent and looked well and truly on song.
Yadav 7 - not his best work but still took wickets first dig. Crucial over against Marnus and Cummins really should've won India the match.
Bumrah 7 - again, some superb bowling with the new-ish ball against Australia's top order but looked a bit tired as the game went on. Might still be short of a gallop.
Shami 8 - will bowl worse than that and take 6-7 wickets. Was IMO the best Indian quick despite not taking any wickets. I really hope he hasn't broken his arm.
Wade 3 - at least ate up some deliveries first up, and while the 30-odd does appear to be downhill skiing I wonder whether things might've changed slightly if he had failed given how aggressively he started.
Burns 5 - a bit unlucky that was given first innings but really never looked too comfortable there. Second innings an effective way to get back some form, though.
Labuschagne 4 - Australia's second top-scorer first innings, but really was a very uncomfortable and lucky knock. Still runs is runs I guess and without it who knows how little Australia would've been bowled out for in the first innings?
Smith 1 - rare failure, didn't look too comfortable when out there.
Head 1 - never looked settled against Ashwin and if Warner's back he might well be out of the side again.
Green 3 - promising debut but really did nothing of substance.
Paine 8 - very very important knock with Australia in a lot of trouble, and while the bowlers did bail Australia out it was still outstanding. One tricky drop but otherwise good with the gloves.
Cummins 10 - machine. Could not have bowled any better.
Starc 9 - one of his best Test bowling performances. Was outstanding first innings and bowled well second dig.
Lyon 6 - back seat role given the excellence of the quicks. Deserves a lot of plaudits for the buildup against Pujara, but was probably outbowled by most of the other bowlers.
Hazlewood 9 - merely good first innings, but the second innings has to be close to the best spell of bowling I've ever seen. Basically unplayable.
