Interesting stuff from Sir Michael as per usual... a real shame he doesn't write more on cricket really.

Not terribly sure about his suggestion about an all-powerful manager - has he forgotten Raymond? Everyone loved the idea, and hated the reality, even his captain Atherton.

He's saying what everyone's thinking on the "jobs for the boys" lines, of course.

Tests
Hoggard - 5 Tests - 13 wickets - 2.6 wickets per game
Harmison - 7 Tests - 23 wickets - 3.28
Sidebottom - 11 Tests - 45 wickets - 4.09
Anderson - 5 Tests - 23 wickets - 4.06
Panesar - 12 Tests - 44 wickets - 3.66

ODIs
Sidebottom - 11 ODIs - 20 wickets - 1.81 wickets per match
Anderson - 15 ODIs - 27 wickets - 1.80
Broad - 15 ODIs - 33 wickets - 2.2

The other 2/3 or 4 bowlers have been a mixture of Collingwood 19 matches 11 wickets, Yardy 1/0, Mascarenhas 10/6, Plunkett 2/5, Panesar 9/8, Tremlett 2/2, Flintoff 4/10, Bopara 5/1, Pietersen 2/1, Lewis 1/1, Shah 3/2 and Swann 6/7. I think 1.5 wickets per match for the main 3 fast bowlers is average and 1 per match from the others but only Flintoff and Swann have had success and Swann was left out of matches and Flintoff has been injured.

Sidebottom, Anderson, Broad, Flintoff and Swann will make a stronger looking bowling unit when Flintoff comes back.

Losing 3 Tests out of the 12 played so far isn't that bad and once Moores has settled on his teams and they play more matches we should get better, I hope.
