Round 7 Match 1: AndrewB v Line and Length
AndrewB
Line and Length
AndrewB won by 71 runs
After a solid batting performance by AndrewB's XI, with most of the top and middle order contributing, Line and Length's first innings, by contrast, was held together by a fine hundred from Weekes and battling 80s from Cook and Border. In the second innings, AndrewB's men piled on the runs - Ponting, with 137, being the stand-out performer - with only the West Indian duo of Garner and Sobers making any impact with the ball. After an excellent opening stand by Cook and Sehwag, the match seemed to be heading for a draw, but Anderson and Faulkner worked their way through the batting. While Border was there, Line and Length still had some hope, but Hammond was brought on and dismissed him, Kapil and Verity in quick succession, and Pollock then dismissed Garner to wrap up the victory in the final session.
