Peaks draft: Randomised results

As semi-promised, this is a thread in which I extract random performances for the players in the "peaks" draft (from the range of matches stated) and apply the simplest method I could come up with to convert these into scores/bowling figures. (Bowling figures, incidentally, will just be wickets-runs).
Note that this is just intended as a bit of fun - don't read anything into the results!

Line and Length XI win by 189 runs

A typical Sehwag effort on Day 1, well supported by Everton Weekes, put the L&L XI in a strong position early on, and only Sangakkara (older) responded convincingly for ataraxia XI. As the pitch wore later on, good bowling by Lock and Goddard gave ataraxia XI some hope, but a big partnership between Cook and Sangakkara (younger) meant the target was over 400, and Verity worked his way through the opposition to claim victory on the final day, despite another magnificent knock by the Sri Lankan veteran.

Himannv win by 145 runs

This match followed a similar pattern to the first. A fine knock by Pollock, equalling the highest score in the tournament to date, proved to be the difference between the two sides. After a solid opening stand by Hanif and Mitchell, wickets fell regularly, but Pollock's rapid 149 held the innings together; then Michaelf7777777's XI also struggled against fine bowling from Hadlee and Trueman, again after a good start. Warne seemed to be bowling his side back into the match until a pugnacious innings from Miandad and a quick fifty from Gilchrist; then, despite Underwood being oddly ineffective on the wearing pitch, Hadlee, Ambrose and captain Hammond proved to be too much for Michaelf7777777's batting.

Sanga scoring 89, 99, and 115 in the same game - can't fault the bastard for his consistency. He scored a bit less in the team where he has to keep, which is a nice touch.

The match began with a solid team effort from Fuller Pilch's top order, with 4 batsman reaching 50 but all failing to convert against some steady bowling from Marshall and Muralitharan, and they will have been disappointed to only reach 359. But it required a magnificant 163 from Lara to give JOJOXI even a slender first innings lead, as he had little support from his colleagues after a sound start from Hutton and Dravid. More fine bowling from Muralitharan kept the target down, but it needed another fine innings from Lara, before Marshall and his captain saw JOJOXI home in a tense finish.

A magnificent opening spell from Sydney Barnes had AndrewB's XI in trouble from the start, and despite a brave stand from Dhoni and Pollock, their score of 228 never looked like being enough. Pollock's bowling briefly looked like bringing them back into the game, but Cowdrey's 106, well supported by Watling and Cummins, left them in serious trouble. Only Ponting put up much resistance to some fine bowling from McGrath and Grimmett, and Morris saw trundler's XI home with a boundary to complete his 50.

Pothas XI win by 37 runs

When Amiss and Barrington took the Teuton score past 100, they appeared to be favourites in what had been a tight match throughout. But then a ferocious spell from Marshall tore through the Teuton middle order, and though Amiss battled on for a heroic 138, he couldn't prevent Pothas's XI completing a narrow victory.
On the first day, Ambrose soon had Pothas's men in trouble, and in hindsight it appears that O'Reilly was kept on for too long after dismissing Lara, as Inzamam and de Villiers took full advantage of his wayward spell. On a wicket where batting was tricky throughout, it took an excellent innings from Clarke to give Teuton's side a narrow lead, after which they bowled well to leave Pothas's XI in trouble. But a quickfire fifty from Lindwall proved to be crucial in pushing the final target just beyond Amiss's reach.

ataraxia won by 70 runs

After a steady start by Lawry and Goddard, Ambrose brought the game to life with a devastating spell. Unfortunately, he then suffered a strain, leaving his side a little short of bowling, and de Kock counter-attacked fiercely against the usually reliable pair of Hadlee and Underwood. Himannv's XI in turn seemed to be heading for a big score as Hammond and Pollock set about the bowling with panache, but Lillee struck back, removing Pollock, Richards and Miandad in quick succession, and it took a last-wicket stand of 40 from Ambrose and Underwood to keep their deficit down to 8.
With the game so close, every run was vital, and another significant last-wicket stand, by Miller and Holding, took the target well past 200. With the wicket now wearing, only Hammond and Miandad managed to withstand Lillee and Lock for long.

Michaelf7777777's XI must have feared the worst when they slumped to 76-6 on the first day, before a magnificent counter-attack by Flintoff, well supported by the tail, took them past 300. Fuller Pilch's XI had a better start, but also relied on their all-rounder - Cairns - to take them into a narrow lead. It was Cairns again who was the star performer in restricting their opponents to just 208 in the second innings, and after a bad start, Kallis and Waugh looked set to take them home. Both were then removed by Flintoff, and wickets continued to fall steadily until a boundary from Philander saw Fuller's men creep over the line.

JOJOXI's team seemed to be recovering well from a poor start, with Lara taking particular toll on a wayward spell from Anderson, until some loose shots against an accurate spell from Laker saw them stumble to a moderate score. After a big stand by Hutton and Ponting, Warne seemed to have bowled JOJOXI back into the game, but some fierce hitting by Dhoni off Muralitharan ensured AndrewB's team had a big lead. A good all-round bowling performance ensured that their target was a small one, and after a few nervous moments when Warne dismissed Hutton and Ponting in the same over, Greenidge and Hammond saw them home with no further alarms.

Pothas's XI won by 1 wicket

In one of the matches of the tournament so far, trundler's XI looked to be on course for a big score at one stage, but disappointing middle-order batting saw them slump to 243. Pothas's men tended to get out after a promising start, but 90s from Hobbs and de Villiers gave them a healthy lead. This looked like becoming a comfortable win, despite Walcott's century, until Watling almost single-handedly pushed trundler's lead past 250. This looked like being irrelevant while Hobbs and Gambhir were making merry, but a top-order collapse against Grimmett followed, and nerves were clearly frayed as wickets continued to fall regularly. When Cummings bowled Muralitharan for a duck with 20 still needed, the miracle comeback looked on, but Marshall and Donald managed to creep over the line.

Barrington, supported by Smith and Clarke, looked to be setting up Teuton's team for a good score after the openers had fallen cheaply to Dale Steyn. But when he eventually fell to Kapil, that triggered a collapse to the spin of Verity and Sobers. In reply, Line and Length's XI struggled initially against Waqar and Wasim until Weekes and Border steadied the ship with a partnership of 100. O'Reilly then dismissed them both, and worked his way through the tail, but some fierce hitting by Kapil eventually saw the first innings scores tied. Teuton's XI then struggled throughout their second innings against Verity's tight left-arm spin, only Simpson prospering to any extent, and Line and Length's men chased down their meagre target with impressive ease.

When Himannv's XI were approaching 300 with 4 wickets down, with Pollock having just completed a stylish century, a huge score looked on the cards; but wickets then fell rapidly. Line and Length's XI also faded after a promising start from Sehwag, giving a 60 run lead to Himannv. But they bowled consistently again in the second innings, though Richards's 73 ensured a challenging target of nearly 300. When Hadlee and Ambrose dismissed the top order for 100, Himannv seemed to be on the way to victory, until Sobers's magnificent hundred, well supported by Border, turned the match around.

Fuller Pilch won by 71 runs

Fuller Pilch's XI were struggling on the first morning at 50-4, but solid middle-order batting brought them up to a respectable score. Conversely, ataraxia saw a good start squandered as the middle order collapsed, but Headley and de Kock saw them into a narrow lead. A more solid effort second time around, with some late runs by Jadeja, Trumble and Tyson, set a tough target for ataraxia, and the same three men then bowled their opponents out for a reasonably comfortable victory.

Hutton and Ponting gave AndrewB's XI a great start against Davidson and Botham, but they were pegged back to a manageable total by Flintoff and Warne. Michaelf7777777's side then tended to get in but fail to push on, and Anderson ran through the tail to give AndrewB a healthy lead. Again, his side started well, with Hammond's hundred taking the lead past 400 before Ashwin struck back impressively; but a devastating opening spell from Pollock left Michaelf7777777's hopes in ruins. A defiant 86 from Botham, well supported by the tail, kept the margin of victory respectable.

Pothas's XI made a shaky start against Imran and Marshall before Inzamam, supported by a hard-hitting 63 from Marshall, saw them approach 300 until Warne took the last 3 wickets cheaply. The Yorkshire opening pair then gave JOJOXI a tremendous start, and not even a hat-trick from Allan Donald could prevent them achieving a big lead. Gambhir's second-innings hundred never looked like being enough, despite a wearing pitch, and despite a nervy start, JOJOXI's men were never in serious trouble.

Teuton's XI were always struggling against some penetrative bowling from Barnes and McGrath, and though Worrell and Prior took the score past 200 the tail succumbed rapidly to Cummins and Grimmett. The trundler batting also found the going tough against the Pakistani opening duo, but a brilliant century by Harvey gave them a narrow lead. Amiss and Smith looked to be batting the game out of trundler's reach before a lethal spell from Cummins kept the target to just over 300, and then a solid batting performance on an easing wicket saw them home.
