Pakistan vs India

The King

For years Pakistan and India have been the greatest cricketing rivals more so than even England and Australia but overall who would you say are better. There is little to chose between them as they both have won a world cup, India have produced the greatest one day batsman Tendulker and Pakistan have produced the greatest one day bowler Wasim. Also who would you say was the better all rounder Imran Khan or Kapil Dev.

Lol, I thought this was a topic regarding their up and coming test series in India next year.

Too hard to differentiate on who is overall better. I rate Imran over Kapil, but only just. Hell that's another tough one.

In general India have had better batsmen and Pakistan better bowlers. As Pakistan have beaten India more than the other way around, you would have to say they are better. It is debatable whether Wasim was the best one day bowler (Garner, Murali, Hadlee, Ambrose) or Tendulkar the best batsman (Richards). Imran was a world class bowler and good batsman, Kapil was just reasonable at both.

Someone should implement a filtering program. That way flame wars would be avoided :p

We do have a filter... it gets a little excited at times, mind.

What words do you suggest we filter? :)

Lol it was a joke ;) I meant filter posters/people. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

The fact is India have always been one of the strongest sides around at home, one of the weakest away. John Wright's ingenuity has shown signs of starting to change that.
Pakistan, meanwhile, are never "good" or "bad", they're simply either depending on what day it is.

Statistically comparing the whole period that India and Pakistan have been playing at the test level, Pakistan is the better team. Pakistan has beaten India more number of times in tests and ODIs which shows that in one-to-one contests Pakistan has the edge. When their overall test statistics are compared including test matches played against other countries also, Pakistan has a better record then India's both in terms of a higher winning percentage and a lesser losing percentage.

But one thing about India which makes it a very intriguing case, is that sort of "invincible" aura that India has at home. Over the past 25 years or so, India is probably the best team at home statistically compared to even Australia and West Indies which impresses people and on the other hand Pakistan's unpredictability at home or abroad is what raises questions in people's mind about their effectiveness.

India has tended to depend on a couple of really great players most of the time. Pakkistan have had better all round strength in their ranks over the years.

Pakistan have a clear edge in the pace department. The only edge India had was in spinners but it was for a limited peroiod.

Maybe, just maybe, Indian batsmen have shown , overall , better concentration levels than their Pakistani counterparts.

But overall...my vote goes to Pakistan.

Records are $hit . The only record that I care about is the number of matches won in the history and Pakistan by far the better team for sure . I dont wanna get into political talks and this and that , e.g. our player had upset stomach , or malaria or Our team never played with the full potential . The team vs team is the the best thing to judge the quality of the two teams .
Pakistan has won more tests and as far as one dayers are concerned Pakistan always kept 2-1 record against India which is amazing ........ 58 - 33 .
And this year Pakistan is a little short on schedule cuz they have won 5 and India has won 3 , So Pakistan still one match short on the Schedule . Any ways Pakistan is the better side ............

Pakistan's performance in Test Cricket
....................Played ....Won .....Lost .....NR/Tied

TOTAL ................302 ........93 .......76.......... 133

And as far as Pakistan 's one day cricket performance is concerned then
Played . Won . Lost .Tie n/r
597..... 319 .....260 ...18

And As far India's performance in tests is concerned then
Played...... Won....Lost .... Tie draw N/r
.. 374 .........77 ......124 ........173

And Indian performance in One dayers is as followed
Played ....... Won .... Lost..........Tie n/r
573 ...........268 ........278........... 27

So game over , Pakistan has been a better side and is a better side right now too with the exception of the tests ...........
