Facing an attack comprising Shinwari and Ashraf as opening bowlers, I think SA really should have scored at least 30 or so more. Amla just had no rhythm or timing towards the end of that innings.

Amla scored 28 from 26 balls in last 10 overs. His junior partner Van Dussen was struggling against Shadab and It have expected him to take the initiative. Instead Amla was content just to tap and get a single.

Top innings from Hafeez, this track suits him. This South Africa attack lacks penetration,Tahir on the way out and Rabada not half the force he is in tests.Shame Ngidi got injured when he did because he was establishing himself as their spearhead in this format

Well done Pak.

SA 20 runs short. Disappointed with Andile thought this pitch would suit his bowling and he did nothing. Pretorius showed how it needed to be done.

Amla scored at 90 SR and his job is to bat through the innings. The big difference was Hafeez, came in late middle overs and played a fantastic innings.
Some blame has to go with Amla, slowed down a lot approaching his ton and showed little game awareness.Should have definitely have had a bit more of a go considering how many wickets they lost

Yes Amla played the perfect knock in first 35 overs, but then definitely slowed down for his ton. We all know that he's capable of scoring faster - he has done that before in ODIs and T20s. Last 15 overs with 9 wickets in hand was basically a T20 scenario.

Maybe he was trying to set the record straight after reading the Most misleading ODI stats thread on cricketweb.

Massive concerns with Amla's tempo. Batting all innings for 107

Also Hendricks/VdDussen can eat up too many balls early in their innings. Hendricks 45 off 67 against harder new ball. Vs Dussen often 3 off 16 balls or even 24 off 42 or something at domestic level.

If you watched the match, I don't know how you can say there's nothing wrong with Amla's approach. I was watching after the 36 over mark or so just anticipating the onslaught that was to come and it just never happened. They were happy taking singles in the 40+ later overs. The scorecard makes Amla's innings look more acceptable than it was imo. It was really bad considering the circumstances.
