So when Ngidi's fit again, does he come back into the squad as the fourth seamer or does Olivier stay there? If only we had similar problems in deciding which batsmen to leave out.
Shrug... who knows. I mean Steyn, Rabada, Philander versus a B 'team of Olivier, Ngidi, Nortje? Not a bad 2nd string that. Elephant in the room being selection quota.

When you are making these calls, are quotas not considered or are they so far ahead due to the limited overs non white players?

I'd assume if Oliver plays and no Ngidi then De Bruyn has to be left out.

Haha imagine if the wells dry in a decade as happened with Australia.

This team is 2 good batsmen and an in form QDK away from being one of the great test teams in history.

There was an article on Sport24 a week or so ago which said they are not on top of the target.

Would 250 be a good target for a fourth innings chase here? One that is quite challenging, but attainable?

Ah that's a shame, thought due to the limited overs team they may have been ok.

I dunno if their pressure coming from the government, but its going to be messy for the selectors especially if Amla who normally is a safe non white selection continues to fail.

So white players that must play

QDK
Makram
Elgar
Faf (captain)

Then one out of Steyn, Oliver, De Bruyn.

Nasty.

If I've kept track correctly, they're slightly behind the target. This season the teams have been 47% white on average, and the target is 45%. From what I remember about the Sport24 article, it was making the point that the test side is some way off and it's the ODI and T20 sides that are offsetting that and bringing things in line with the overall targets.

Which has been from the beginning, I would be worried if Andile got picked this match rather than Olivier.
