Nah, with the rise of steyn and anderson, i think we can safely say now that fast bowling is well and truly back ... every era has 2-3 ATG bowlers leading the pack, with a number of others a rung belowor maybe we're just in a period where there just aren't that many great fast bowlers?

Steyn is a nailed-on ATG already imo, and anderson is getting there quickly too.
Broad can be brilliant if he builds on his recent form, Zaheer can be unplayable if he's fit (lazy ****). Plenty of other decent fast bowlers out there too.
Seriously, its not as bad as people are making it out to be
only 'a step'?definitely a step down from the 80s and 90s
Well obviously yes, and a big step down at that, but its not nearly as disastrous as people say.definitely a step down from the 80s and 90s
I mean the way anderson is going, he'll get to the rung-below-ATG level
Yes, if he keeps on doing what he is doing for 3 more years and does well in SC and there isn't a resurgence of many great fast bowlers together around the world in the mean time then he will end up having earned the credibility to be considered close to a rung below ATG levelI mean the way anderson is going, he'll get to the rung-below-ATG level
Players that played a significant amount of their careers in the 00s:definitely a step down from the 80s and 90s
It doesn't diminish the fact that they were quality bowlers and were products of the modern day system.lol......dude.....how many matches did Asif Amir and Clark play in total??
Quality pace bowlers with tiny longevity weren't hyped up as much in the 80s and the 90s...It doesn't diminish the fact that they were quality bowlers and were products of the modern day system.
yeah but it does show the fact that modern day bowlers wont be on the ball park 99% of the times and hence the batsmen can sit back and relaxIt doesn't diminish the fact that they were quality bowlers and were products of the modern day system.
so? How does that detract from the point that 00s didn't have too many good bowlers?Amir and Asif didn't play much for reasons other than fitness, training or workload.
It does detract from the point in the context of the article in the OP.so? How does that detract from the point that 00s didn't have too many good bowlers?
Ah that old chestnut.Yes, if he keeps on doing what he is doing for 3 more years and does well in SC and there isn't a resurgence of many great fast bowlers together around the world in the mean time then he will end up having earned the credibility to be considered close to a rung below ATG level
