Overrated/Underrated

Dhoni - overrated. As happens with any Indian cricket who starts brilliantly, the hype goes off the roof. I'd still say he's pretty good, but it's too soon to laud him so much.

Mark Taylor - underrated. I think he had an extended lean patch, which went a long way in ruining his batting average. As a captain too, he probably isn't recognised as much as he should be. Sure Steve Waugh led Australia to all those record victories, but the foundation was laid by Taylor.

Mahendra Dhoni

Dhoni - Underrated. Despite being over-hyped, Dhoni, has always lived up to the hype. He did not do badly in the South Africa ODI series and played well in tests too. He is already looking like a match-winner for India and can play equally well in both the modes of attacking and defensive.

Overrated. People started calling him Javed Miandad after a few good performances in West Indies. Warne and a rookie Murali found him out and then he never recovered.
There may be some bias here since he's my khala's (mom's sis) ex hubby and all of us hate him.

I'd probably agree tho, not really underrated but more taken for granted. I think his value to the Oz team will become more apparent when he's finally retired out to stud.

Overrated as a captain, underrated as a batsmen.

Things that mark him down as a captain was that infamously slow-over rate and letting his bowlers get carried away with the short stuff even when batsmen where being knocked unconscious.

Overrated. A fine bowler but his career record is one level below the likes of Hadlee and Marshall who proved themselves on the subcontinent. By contrast Lillee was never tested there except for one series in Pakistan where his performance was awful.

Underrated, quite easily the best all rounder today and one of the best batsmen.

I think it's because he's done no real massive stand out thing e.g. Lara - 500+, 400+ (which makes him undeniably great) that there's debate over him. He's certainly good no question but whether or not he's one of the all time greats is very hazy...

Inzaman - Underrated for years due to his lack of fitness....but esp against England he proved that he's one of the best

He's the only Pakistani ever to score a triple hundred,he has one of the best averages in chasing situations and aruably does more than anyone in the Pakistan team to influence the outcome of the game.

underrated,i haven;t really heard people talk about him much,but his record looks fantastic to me.
