Northerns hang on for Victory

Northerns have had there 4th win for the season in the 1 day version of the game.
Batting first Northerns made 273 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Rudolph top score with 92 not out. Considering the Northerns bowlers have struggled to contain opposition batsmen all season in 50 over games. Barbados were at one stage 3/40 but fell just short of the total and made 267. Shah was the best of the bowlers with 1/24 off 7 while Gavasker took three wickets but had the expensive figures of 3/65.

Yorkshire bagged their first win under new managers coach with a 6 wicket win over Auckland.
Auckland batting first lost Roberts for just 7 followed by Smith for 4. Ali and O'Neill looked to be in for big things before Ali was run out. O'Neill quickley struck 9 which was followed by Manohar being bowled for a duck. O'Neill managed just 3 more before falling victim to a nice piece of bowling from Simpson, misplaying and edging it to the keeper. Burley didn't trouble the scorers and was gone for a duck, plum LBW from Gough's bowling. Senior and Plummer batted well to add 97 for the 7th wicket. Senior was dismissed for a well played 56. Plummer was eyeing off a century, as Terbrugge with 17 for a 60+ run partnership. However Terbrugge was bowled by Simpson who then knocked over Doshi for a golden duck, Plummer left stranded not out on 77 in the 47th over.

Yorkshire started solidly with a 108 run parntership from Tendulker (48) and Hemp (51) when Terbrugge dismissed the openers in two overs. Laney missed out on 50 with a nice 33 from 46, while Boxall reahced exactly 50 before being dismissed. Weir (27) and Ballard (9) secured Yorkshire's victory in the 46th over.

Interviewed after the match, Manager G. Thomas remarked that this win came after he decided on his final line up for the rest of the year. "When I first took this position I played around with the lineups, and before this match formed one which I hoped would be a great match winning team, and that was displayed today."
