Turistas v Jamaica
Captain Xavier Rose was at the peak of his powers, as he sealed a slim win against the country of his birth. Rose bowled a full length with pace and accuracy and was rewarded with the incredible figures of 5 for 12 in his 4 overs. Few had an answer for his relentless attack, and only Tamar Lambert (58) truly looked at ease at the crease. At the top of the order, Brenton Parchment got off to a quick start, top-edging two pull shots for boundaries and then slamming Thad Bochat over long-off for six. He was eventually out to Paddy Gundry's flat legspin though, and Jamaica wobbled at 52-4. They were chasing a modest 136, but despite the efforts of Lambert, Rose returned to have the final say.
After choosing to bat, Turistas struggled against lively bowling from Russell and Lawson with the new white ball. After the team had slipped to 42-5, Andrew Cloete (46) and Manjunath Reddlapalli (47) were forced into reconciliation. They added 60 for the sixth wicket, taking the game into the 14th over. But after they were parted the batsmen struggled to force the rate upward, and Turistas were limited to 33 runs from the final 41 balls.

Dazzlers v Scotland
Some enterprising batting by Chris Schofield and his skipper, Kingsley Clapham, at the death achieved a tight win for Davistow Dazzlers over Scotland. In the chase of 128, Dazzlers were struggling on 88-7, but Schofield and Clapham showed calm and experience in guiding their team out of the rough. Schofield was out 6 short of the total, then Demeza got a cheeky inside edge away to the boundary in the next over- the 19th. The next ball he played to the legside and scrambled a single, then witnessed his captain nicking behind a ball later. He walked off dejectedly and was replaced by Gee Sriram, with Dazzlers still requiring a single to win the game, and with just 2 balls left. Sriram wasted no time in silencing his critics, charging down the pitch and smashing Blain over long-on for six to seal the result. The early season spirit in the home camp was plain to see, as the team charged onto the pitch in celebration. Clapham did so with his full batting gear still on.
Sriram also starred with the ball in the first innings. His 3 wickets rocked the Scotland top order, and they never truly recovered from 22-3. Zac Gelman chimed in with 3 for 26 and some clever changes of pace, and when he had Craig Wright out for 10, the score was a dismal 68-9, with 7.3 overs left. Blain buckled down and Nel threw caution to the wind, and their combination conspired to put on 59 from 33 balls and elevate the score to 127. Andy Pimpkins then hit the stumps at the non-striker's end, running out Blain (16) to end the innings and set up a dramatic second half.

Kent ambushed Brian Lara and his men at Casston Reserve in an easy 5-wicket win. Simon Cook kicked things off with a 4-wicket haul, and Masters XI managed only 117 in less than 12 overs. Both Samit Patel (33) and Dale Benkenstein (34) threatened in a stand of 49 from 31 balls. The former was caught and bowled by Yasir Arafat, and the veterans quickly lost 5 wickets for 24 runs to close the innings. Kent started strongly when Joe Denly hit 16 from the first over by Tyron Henderson. But in the next over Rob Key failed again, nicking Ian Bradshaw behind before he scored. Denly cut Saqlain for a boundary, then he too was out, lbw for 20. However, Kent never really threatened to collapse in the manner of their opponents, and Martin van Jaarsveld (25) and Darren Stevens (32) combined well to put the result outside of doubt. A couple of wickets fell to excite the crowd at the end, but Ryan McLaren deposited his first ball over midwicket for six to finish the game.

Mathemagicians v Trinidad and Tobago
The excitement continues to build for the Twenty20 Cup, helped by a thrilling result in Mørkambe. Jamee Gray won the toss and chose to bat first. But after a couple of firm cut shots by Matt Luff, his team struggled to build momentum. Luff was bowled off the inside edge by Ravi Rampaul and Sanath Jayasuriya was summoned to the crease. He responded with a couple of firm blows over cover, then a mighty pull shot for six. His stride was then broken by Mervyn Dillon, due to a stunning catch at short extra cover by Rayad Emrit. Gray continued to improvise well and played a handy knock of 31 off 13 balls, including 3 consecutive fours off Richard Kelly. The game was poised nicely when Andrew Garven and Alex Crampton took over the charge.
Crampton in particular stepped into stride. Three of his four sixes left the ground, and the biggest (over midwicket) broke a window at a nearby bank. Crampton eventually went out misjudging a Dillon slower ball, but his 44 from 19 balls left the air electric. Sadly the remaining batsmen were seemingly uninspired by the environment, and the last 5 wickets tumbled for 34 runs in less than 3 overs. Trinidad and Tobago set out to get 143 but the openers quickly fell to the Mathemagicians left-handers. Darren Bravo (0) joined the pack, chipping Neil Carter to Adam Collins at mid-on, at 25-3.
Daren Ganga was joined by the in-form Kieron Pollard in a spirited fightback. The celebrated legspinner Neil Pickup was carted for 21 in his first over, including two fours and a six at the hands of Ganga. It took a stunning yorker by Manan Shah to remove the T&T captain, so the lesser names of the batting order were called upon to help Pollard along. The young man hardly needed such consideration. While he lost partners at the other end, he continued to look in control. At 96-6 Gray hoped to rally his troops to victory, but Gibran Mohammed proved the perfect foil and Pollard went after Carter with two big sixes down the ground. Scores were level when Shah struck twice more, but Pollard received a full toss from Pickup 4 balls later, and dispatched it to the ropes with ease.
