Solid performance guys, could have been better against weak opposition - much the same could be said of my personal performance too.

Well played Towns and Camps though - top stuff.

Good win. Disappointed personally though. Economical but no wickets. Anyway, glad to help get the win.

Well played guys, congratulations to Towns for his century and Camps for his 5 wicket haul. Some good performances by everyone in the next game I hope.

Who else can they call up?

Wait, has Mahwire quit Zim cricket? He could probably play.

Taylor to be the top scorer for Zim btw.

Commentary

A careful unbeaten half-century by Chris Butler guided the Cricket Web XI home in another uncertain performance against Zimbabwe. The Black batsman has been making a habit recently of finishing games for his team, and did so again after a shaky start in the chase of 217 for victory.

The call of heads was sufficient for Brendon Goff to win the toss and he had no hesitation as to inserting the touring Zimbabweans on a seaming pitch. He was not greatly rewarded, however. Vusi Sibanda set the pace with three consecutive boundaries off Xavier Rose and went on to score 76.

He was supported well by a patient Brendan Taylor, until Elton Chigumbura elevated the run rate at the death of the innings. Zimbabwe posted a respectable 216-7. Kyle Wright took his first 3 wickets for the CW XI since his return, and Liam Camps was the other main bowler with 3 wickets of his own.

In chasing the score, a partnership of 73 for the first wicket showed Daniel Towns continuing in fine form. He lost Camps for 24, then Goff for 9, and then played on to Piet Rinke's medium pace. The score sat at 102-3 and Zimbabwe hoped to take advantage of their breakthroughs.

It would not be on this day, however. Instead Dinu DeSilva buckled down to play one of his slowest international innings to date. He supported Butler well in a partnership of 75 that set the CW XI well on pace to a shaky, but successful finish.

Hmm, reasonably happy, but could be better on both personal and team counts. Should really be beating Zimbabwe by more than that and I should be taking more wickets, but if I'm not taking wickets I want to keep things tight and I did that.

Good batting from Towns and Butler and some good bowling from Wright and Camps. Pity we couldn't bowl Zimbabwe out but that leaves something to work on for the next game.
